I told him my name. Why did I exactly? He's nothing to me. Just a regular person that I go to school with. Maybe that's why, because he's a stranger and knows nothing about me or I assume nobody else. Maybe I did it because I didn't want to be mean or come off as a bitch.
I watch as his facial expression changes. When I finally tell him name. It changes from an interested glance to a happy expression. "You don't hear that name everyday." He says it with a smile. Yeah it's pretty uncommon. I smile softly back at him. "I think it sound pretty." I look away and look down at the table and back at him. I get that a lot, people tend to always complement people with unique names. Thank you, Asher. His name is uncommon too, you don't hear it too often. He smiles and plays with the black ring around his finger before looking out the windows on the opposite side of the room. I take this time to examine him just a little more.
His hands are huge. They look rough, working hands. His arms are tanned. He has mussel hidden away under the sleeves of his shirt. He has a small scar under his ear lobe that trails down a few inches. He's attractive. I won't deny it. He's the type of man that women dream of. The cocky mysterious ones. "Like what you see, Esmeray?" His tone. It's comedic. I hear the small chuckle that exits from the inside of his lips. I swallow the humiliation building inside me. Sorry. "Don't be sorry, stare all you want. I don't mind, take a couple pictures if you want." He winks at me and I role my eyes in return. Definitely a over confident bastard.
Class continued on, it was note day, self passed. I turn the subtitles on, and blare music through my headphones. I sigh and write down the answers when need be. I usually finish early because I actually do my work on note days. I end up starting my history homework, which, we don't have homework in that class very often, but I like to take notes and highlight to make it easier to study. I look at Asher out the corner of my eye and see him taking notes. I smile, he's taking more notes than necessary. My songs ends signaling the start of a new song.
(Play song here)I look at my paper and listen to the lyrics and roll my eyes looking away. I still hurt. Liam hurt me. Many times, I always forgave him, I made excuses for his actions. I looked for love, praise, safeness, happiness, but never found it. I thought I did, but he was just acting. He used me. He used my body. He left marks and bruises, and I forgave him for it. At least I did in the relationship, now that i'm free from him, his grasp, I try to forget everything. But I can't. I'm trapped. I'm trapped with the things he did. What I thought was love, was just an endless amount of suffering and lies.
The songs ends, I look at Asher. He looks at me. He looks at me with admiration, I swallow the lump in my throat and smile at him. I watch as he blinks and watch his emotion change from admiration to wonder than change from wonder to a warm smile. I look from his eyes to his smile. I look towards the table and finally look at my phone. I check the time, five minutes left in class. I start to pack up since I'm finished. I stack my binders and laptop on top of each other. I take my earphones out and place them in my pencil pouch.
"I could hear your music all class, you have good taste." I quickly turn my attention to him. Oh, thanks. I'm sorry if it was distracting. "No, it's fine. Really. I forgot my AirPods at home, so thank you for blaring your music. I got to hear your music taste." Well in that case, your welcome. This class ends in a few minutes. I hope you have a good rest of your first day. I smile. "Thank you, same to you, Esmeray." He gives me a warm smile and packs up his belongings. You're welcome, Asher. I'll see you around. He nods his head in agreement. I do the same and remove myself from my seat and slide it under the table. The bell rings and I live through the back door of the classroom and walk off to my next class.
