Chapter 3: A Struggle

The shadow-like dog fell from the building and as it got closer to the ground the true identity of the dog was revealed...It was Nick. Jaxson watched with his own eyes as his brother was falling. He looked into the dead soulless eyes of his brother as Nick was falling. Tears streaming down Nick's face and a dead expression as if he came to terms with his own suicide plan. He didn't even scream or react in any way before falling head first into the ground.

Before Jaxson knew it, blood was splattered everywhere on him, his own brother's blood...Nick’s body was a mess. His head was cracked open from the fall and his neck was completely cut open. Not to mention the soulless expression lingering in his cold, vacant eyes. A pool of blood started to pool around Nick's body, spreading slowly.

Jaxson was in utter despair. He slowly fell to his knees as he held up his now dead brother's head with his paws. "N-Nick...?" A small, shaky voice came from the same cat that had been trying to be so brave in trying to deal with the small bird's death. "Nick... N-No it... Can't be please..." Jaxson doesn't want to believe it. That his own brother was suffering for who knows how long? "I could have prevented this... I could have caught you, I could have talked to you more..." Jaxson lets out a meek cry, putting his paw on Nick's cheek slowly. It feels cold and lifeless now. The happy energy his brother put on earlier, gone. Like it never even happened. Jaxson's entire world is crumbling around him now. What's he going to tell his family? What is he going to do by himself now? How is he going to spend the rest of his life without someone by his side now?

Jaxson hugged Nick's dead body tightly, getting Nick's blood all over him and before he knew it he's crying. "Please let this be a bad dream, please let me wake up from this nightmare and wake up to see my own brother making breakfast... Please let me hear his voice once more, let me wake up on my bed and be thankful he's alive... Please. This can't be real. I don't believe this is real!" Jaxson’s voice comes out as a soft, deflated cry. He can't believe this. No, it's not right.

Jaxson thinks for a moment, trying to process the whole thing before yanking out his wand and casting a healing spell in an attempt to frantically revive his brother. Slowly, Nick's body starts to come back together with his neck being sewn by the magic Jaxson was casting. Along with his head, body and anything that's been harmed in the process. Jaxson finishes casting the spell as Nick's body is back to normal, exactly as if he was alive again. "Nick... Wake up please... Wake up." Jaxson is getting desperate to get his brother back that he tried bringing him back to life... But his magic was only allowed to heal what's on the outside, not the inside. Even though Nick's body was repaired he'll forever be gone...

Jaxson then holds Nick's lifeless body close to him,  holding onto him tightly as he suddenly screams out in frustration. "If only I had learned more about my magic! If only I paid attention in class I would have been able to help you! Maybe I would have been able to revive you!" As soon as Jaxson said that the barrier surrounds the entire school, closing up all the entrances and exits at the school. Jaxson gasps as he sees the barrier... Only a trained cat can do such magic! Suddenly a demon ghost cat appears, hissing at Jaxson as Jaxson grabs Nick's body and tries to carry him. He doesn't have any time to mourn anymore! The albino cat struggles hard under the weight of his brother's limp body as he tries to carry Nick but he succeeds! His legs are wobbling frequently as he tries to run away from the ghost cat. The weight and the strain causes his legs to collapse and he ends up falling back down, letting go of Nick's body.

 Jaxson suddenly feels a blazing white hot pain flare and jolt through his back! The ghost cat slashed Jaxson in the back! The albino cat screams out in excruciating pain as he grabs Nick's body again, trying to carry him again. Slash! His back is slashed again by the sharp claws of the ghost cat! Jaxson tries to endure the pain but he can't hold back his screams. He starts to carry Nick's lifeless body again but before he could run his back is slashed once again. This time he's cut on the back of his neck. He yells in pain as he can feel his nerves burning from the slashes cutting deep into his skin. He can't take it anymore! He drops Nick's lifeless body as his fight or flight instincts kick in and he makes a quick decision.
