I wandered into the big hospital, and grabbed out my clipboard and a voice recorder. I looked around for a girl called Erin that was supposed to take my around the hospital giving me all the good things about this hospital.
"Ms. Vanderwoolf?" A blonde girl came up, she had a thick Irish accent hence the Irish name. I nodded and she smiled at me. "Follow me" I did as I was told.
She took me to what looked like the main compartment, it had files, reports, computers, and almost everything. She pointed to the wall which had gradings from the health department.
"As you can see we have A+ health" she said and gave a toothy smile and I jotted it down.
"One of the things I want to write about it also a short story on a patient If that's ok?" I asked, looking down at some of my ideas.
"That's fine, but you'll need to have the patients consent" Erin said and smiled again before walking out of the compartment and explaining to me how this hospital runs and its all patient first.
I heard a blaring noise and a few nurses rushed to the entrance, and there was a poor man on the bed getting wheeled in. His face looked severely damaged and Erin had to run to help the man. She excused herself and told me to wait in the child's play area which was right next to us.
I slowly went to go take a seat and watched some of the kids playing with toys. My heart fell when I saw a young girl with a bald head and a bandana wrapped around it. She had bruises all around her face and she looked fragile, to fragile to even be standing up.
"I'm Hailey." She introduced, she sounded nothing like I would imagine, she was cheerful and happy.
I smiled back at her "I'm Rhiannon. But call me Rhi" I said and she smiled.
"Do you come here often?" She asks me and starts combing the Barbie's hair that was in her left hand. She smiled at me showing of her two front teeth which were kind of short, must be still growing.
I chuckled, why would I come to a hospital regularly? I mean if I was completely healthy. "No, this is actually my first time" I say with a hint of nervousness.
"Rhiannon?" Erin asked and my head shot up to her, she was back from saving lives. I smiled and waved at her before standing up, and then I realized Hailey wasn't there anymore. #Confuzzled
My face froze as I carried on walking to Erin, Hailey was nowhere in sight. "What's wrong, you look like you just saw a ghost" Erin remarked and I giggled to play along with it.
"Do you know that little girl called Hailey, with cancer or something?" I asked and her sadness washed over her face.
"Poor thing, Hailey's been battling cancer since she was 3 years old. Things aren't looking to great for her, wait where did you see her?" She questioned and paused. I knew instantly that Hailey wasn't even allowed in the lobby by the look on Erin's face.
"At the child lobby" I replied simply and she sighed.
"She's not supposed to be there" she explained and walked back to the lounge area to try and find her.
"Explains why she was fled when you came" the sudden realization hit me and I laughed inwardly. She gave up looking for her and instructed another nurse to, Erin was probably the head of the nursing department.
After the little detour around the big hospital, I finally got home so I could have a long bath. I sunk into the warm tub, and I couldn't stop thinking about Hailey. She looked so young, and to be battling cancer at the same time, I can't imagine what her family must be going through.
I started getting granny fingers so I decided it was best to hop out of the deluxe pool of water. I wrapped myself in a towel and walked out from my large bathroom and into my room. I got changed into my PJS which I had already picked out.
My laptop started ringing and I answered immediately when I saw it was my best friend Kylah from half way around the world.
"Kylah!" I exclaimed and stared into the laptop screen, admiring Kyla's beauty. She had beautiful dark brown neat curls that lightened at the end, she was wearing her signature bow head band which I adored. She had gorgeous chocolate brown eyes, and pump red lips.
"Rhi" she greeted and drank some coffee from her paper cup. She smiled widely at me showing of her white teeth. "Did you get the internship?" she asked after sipping from the delicious beverage.
My eyes widened and I couldn't wait to tell her about everything. "Oh my- I got an internship at CBS news!" I announced and waited for her reaction.
She started squealing in happiness for me, and nearly tipped over her coffee as I watched her try to balance it back on her bed. "Tell me all about your big assignment"
Kylah and I spent the next 2 hours chatting, and we even talked about Hailey. Before I could finish up what I had scheduled to do today, I fell into a deep sleep.
