you said forever

thank you for the cake

claire didn't really sleep last night but when she woke up her flat was empty. she walked into the living room where she saw eleanor last. claire was confused. she noticed a little note. It read: "thank you so much for letting me stay! I'm sorry if I confused you by leaving early but I had to go work. today is my first day and I need to make a good impression ;). ps: call me, I'd like to hang out with you more." and with that claire saw that eleanor wrote her number below her short text.

claire hesitated. she wasn't sure if she and eleanor should start all over again. claire got her heart broken twice. she didn't want to relive that. after claire thought about the what ifs her dad called.

"hey claire! do you want to have lunch with me today?", her dad asked. claire answered: "hi dad! sure, let's meet at the diner across the street at 1pm ok?" jay agreed and claire decided to get ready.

*at the diner*

jay and claire sat down. claire wanted to tell her dad about eleanor but she thought it's the wrong timing since he just got divorced. jay and claire enjoyed their food until jay started looking over to the table next to them. two brunette girls were sitting on the table. they were laughing and talking and somehow jay couldn't keep his eyes of them. claire got confused. she got even more confused when jay sent them a piece of cake. claire looked at jay. he noticed her confused expression. "don't worry claire. I wont run off with the first woman I meet, I just wanted to be nice", he told her and excused himself to the bathroom.

claire was in her thoughts when one of the women stood in front of their table. claire studied the face of the woman. her eyes had a mixed color shade of brown and green, she had brown hair and was about 5″7. claire forgot that she had been staring at the woman in front of her for the past minutes. the woman smiled and said: "hi! I'm gloria! thank you for the cake, that was really nice of you." claire didn't know what to answer. she just sat there and continued to stare at gloria. the brunette seemed to be aware of what she was doing to claire.

claire still didn't know what to say. she was still mesmerized by the beautiful woman in front of her. gloria just giggled and turned around to walk back to her table. after gloria sat down again, jay came back. he asked claire, who was still in trance, if everything was alright and she snapped out of her thoughts. "yes, everything is alright", claire told him. deep inside of claire there was a weird feeling. like she missed something. an opportunity. claire wanted to ask gloria if she was free sometime. she really wanted to get to know her.

when claire just gathered up her courage and was ready to ask gloria for her number, she realized that gloria was gone. claire looked at the empty table next to her and jay. she felt the same thing, like minutes ago. but this time it was stronger, almost heart breaking. why does claire care so much about someone she just met?

claire was just about to leave when a waiter came up to her. he gave her a little note and said: "the brown-haired girl gave this to me when she left. she said she didn't want to interrupt your thoughts or something."

claire took the note and smiled. it was a number with "call me, xo gloria <3" written below it. claire stepped out of the diner and looked at the note again. that was when she realized that eleanor gave her a similar note. "shit, I forgot to text eleanor", claire thought to herself.

she immediately rushed home and texted eleanor before deciding to give gloria a call.
