She was quite a gentle soul, really.
Before they interacted, he thought of her as just a mere classmate, admittedly he never gave a second glance. to him, she was merely a background character.
But as they grew closer, the redhead couldn't help but take note of how her bright orbs would gleam whenever she felt elated, or how her smile seemed to be more illuminating than the sun's radiance whether it was directed to him or not. Karma could have sworn that if it shines any brighter, it could replace the sun itself.
It could also be the way she scrunches her nose with a frown lingering in her features when she's trying to concentrate on her work. Maybe, it was how clement and benign she is even though she belonged to the class where it was considered as the lowest of the low.
Perhaps, it was how her cheeks would be tinted in red hues as her dainty fingers would gently brush against his cheeks whenever there seemed to be a crumb on it before chuckling at him.
"Karma-kun, you're a messy eater aren't you?"
"Heeeh~? Maybe you're just using that as an excuse to touch me~."
And though his pride would never let him voice it out, somehow those gestures did not fail to make his heart skip a beat.

What a childish teenager Akabane Karma is.
The redhead certainly was not loquacious with his personal sentiments, preferring to keep them to himself while resorting to simply showing the surface of what he actually feels. Albeit his abrasive side when enraged or provoked, he was but a teenager who was still not in tune with his emotions which is why as much as possible, he keeps it bottled up. Hence, when it comes to romance he was quite clumsy.
That is why instead of using his verbal aptitude to express his feelings, he chose to tease his friend-the girl he admires-to catch her attention. The redhead delinquent was an unapologetic troublemaker who tends to trick and prank his classmates for his own amusement and of course, even the girl he likes was no exception.
However, Karma was well aware of the borderline between light-hearted teasing and deriding. He was no bully after all.
アネモネ ʷʰⁱᵗᵉ ᵃⁿᵉᵐᵒⁿᵉ
At that moment, his mercury orbs held genuine sincerity.
The leaves were playing their own tune as it danced with the early spring breeze of march. The soft muttering that it creates was enough to harmonize with the faint chirping of the birds on a weekend morning, the sound was quite tickling to their ears. However, it was not enough to drown out the harsh thumping of their hearts.
After bidding their farewell to their classmates, the two found it even harder to say goodbyes to one another. It made them question if graduating from middle school should really be the end of their time together as well.
With a sigh escaping past his lips, before the redhead teenager could mull over his words, he found himself already speaking.
"Nee~, what would you say if I told you I like you?"
At that, it seemed that the time came to a halt and albeit the leaves and birds ceased their mellifluous humming, the young girl's heart seemed to want to leap in her chest. Euphoria washed over her features for as the skies were a clear blue, Karma's eyes reflected with pure honesty.
"I would say that I really like you too, Karma-kun."
