The next morning came fast.

"Good...... is it morning?" Logan slowed his speech as he peeked out the window. "Why is it still dark outside?"

I got up from my bed and joined the other two, Logan and Carlos, in there conjoined bedroom.

Sure enough the sun hadn't fully come up. "But it's 2pm,"

"There's a storm, you idiots," Carlos snapped at us and then rolled over to get more sleep.

I gave Logan a sly look, in which he gave back. It was like we read each other's minds.

We both grabbed one end of Carlos's blanket and pulled it off of him. He, in response, shot up from his sleeping position and went to snatch his blanket from us. He failed and ended up chasing us around the apartment.

Lightning flashed and thunder rumbled, but it didn't bother us. We continued the chase until Logan tapped out. He threw himself down on the orange couch breathing hard.
"Just give it back James," Carlos groaned as he jumped up to grab his blanket. Me, being a tall boy gave Carlos a disadvantage. "Why do you always pick on me? Is it 'cus I'm short?"

I chuckled at Carlos's complaint and kept the blanket above his head, like teasing a kitten with a toy.

Lightning flashed again, brightening the whole room with one flash. As this happened, the light revealed something lurking, silently, in the corner.

I stop teasing Carlos and stared at the corner with fear. "James, what..." Carlos turned around to see what I was staring at and then back at me, "what are you looking at?" He asked in a concerned tone.

Thunder clapped loudly, shaking the apartment. Logan jumped from his spot on the couch, Carlos flinched and covered his head with his arms, and I began to tremble as the figure in the corner moved. It began to walk at a slow pace.

"Who's there?" I call out to the figure. Lightning flashed again, brightening the room again. This time the light revealed two beady black eyes with shades of..... Dark green...

Logan, who was sitting closer to the figure, shifted in his seat. He rolled his neck and winced as if something was hurting him. "Logan, d-don't move," I whispered, holding my hands out to stop him. "W-Why?" He squeaked. Thunder clapped, softer this time, "just don't move" I reassure him. "Okay?"

I made my way to that side of the apartment, slow and steady.

When I got close to the orange couch, I stopped. "Logan, get up, not too quick, and stand behind me," I whisper while keeping my eyes on the figure in the corner. I grabbed the sleeve of his shirt to guide him, but something, too, had it's hold on Logan's shirt. A shadowy black hand had its grip on tight around Logan's collar.

Logan's face went white as if he saw a ghost. "Don't let go of me," he cried. "Don't let it take me," A single tear ran down his cheek.

My eyes filled with tears as my fingers loosened their grip on his sleeve. The other force's hold was too strong and it would eventually win. In which it did. It pulled Logan back, into the darkness, with so much strength, I was yanked forward and face first into the hard wood flooring.

"Logan!!" Carlos screamed, running towards the area. "No!" I cry out, holding him back from the ground.

I picked myself up and kept my hold on Carlos. My chin and lip burned. "Where did he go?" Carlos whispered.

Thunder clapped immediately after a lightning strike,
"I don't know"
