Sam sighs as he finishes reading his favorite novel for the 10th time. Sam paused the music he's playing on his phone. Sam has always liked OPM songs. There is something about those songs that stands out from other music genres; he's going to find out what it is.
He stood up and walked around the school library and discovered an old-looking book; there's a title on it that says Till we meet again, my love. Sam thought that the author has a weird taste in creating a title. He gets sneezy by the dust that surrounds the book as he opens it. Sam opened the book; nostalgic cursive handwriting greeted him. He can say that the book is ancient because of the color of the pages; it's coffee brown. He gets nauseous as he only arrived at the first few pages.
A stranger wakes Sam up. He freaks out as his authentic outfit becomes a black tuxedo and a fedora in his lap. Sam saw the book beside him and was confused as he saw the first page completely unfinished. He was astounded by the stranger's handsome look. Sam asked his name; the stranger laughed and asked if he had bumped his head. The stranger's name is Isagani, Isagani Herrero.
The name sounds familiar to him; the teacher said that Isagani is a man who sacrifices his life to save his village from the Guardia civil. Sam mutters his name; Isagani smiles at him. Isagani mentioned that they're going to be late for their class. Sam just followed him. Sam notices his surroundings and is surprised as he realizes that he's still at the school library. He saw chariots with noble ladies covering their faces with fans. Isagani nudged and told him that gentlemen and ladies should never look at each other. He looked at the book and saw that the first page is already complete with a date on the upper right; it's June 10, 1891.
It's been 19 years since the three Filipino Catholic priests: Mariano Gomez, José Burgos, and Jacinto Zamora. They are known as the GomBurZa. They were executed by garrote or hanging for protesting against Spanish officials. It's also been four years since the Philippines ' National Hero, Dr. Jose Rizal published his novel Noli Me Tangere which translates to Touch me not.
And he's standing on the campus of the Philippines' oldest school.
La Real y Pontificia Universidad de Santo Tomás de Aquino, La Universidad Católica de Filipinas which translates to The Pontifical and Royal University of Santo Tomas, The Catholic University of the Philippines. Dr. Jose Rizal graduated from this school too.
Isagani and Sam have arrived at their class; it's a music class. Their teacher is young and has started to call out their names. Until the teacher mentioned Samuel Perez, Sam looked around and saw everyone looking at him; Isagani whispered, it's his name. He quickly raised his hand and acknowledged it. The young professor smiled at him and started his class. While the young professor is teaching, Sam notices that the title is no longer visible to the book. He is confused right now.
The class ended and the professor wanted to talk to Sam. Sam wonders why he wants to talk to him and was surprised as the professor knows that he's not Samuel Perez. Sam is glad that he's not the only person at the wrong time. The professor told him that he should keep an eye on the book as it is the key to his return.
Sam asked what he should do to go back to his time; the teacher replied that only the book holds the answer. The professor also warned him to be cautious of his surroundings and also his actions. One wrong move and it'll change the future.
Sam walked around the school and suddenly felt weak. He's getting nauseous and he doesn't know why. But Sam sees himself walking to an alley. He saw Isagani getting beaten by some strangers. Sam shouted and scared those bullies away. He asked Isagani why he got beaten up. Isagani replied that it's because he's gay.
