Chapter 1

Atticus

 I grabbed my suit jacket.

Tugging it on my arms.

Pulling it over my shoulders.

Straightening it.

I sighed and looked in the mirror, staring at my reflection.

Just breathe. I thought.

Why are you so worried? I heard Liam say.

I'm not worried just, exhausted. I replied.

Sure, exhausted you know-

I blocked him out. I don't need to hear what he has to say. I need to focus. Be relax and calm.

I grabbed my tie and wrapped it around my neck, tightened it.

I grasped the knob to my bathroom door. I breathe in, then swung it open.

I walked down the vacant hallway. We really should start to work on this place. Add more furniture. I'll let Callum know when we get done with the gala. I stopped and placed a finger on the window. I dragged my finger down, pulled it away.

Hmm, dust. I'll tell Callum about that as well.

I walked down the long and countless staircase that was close to the front door.

Hmm, I must be early. I thought. As usual, I'm early. It's a good thing it gives me time to think.

The limo was already there and waiting.

I opened the door to see Theo sitting there starring out of the window. Most be having a conversation with someone. Telling, by his expression, it wasn't a good one.

I leaned my head back against the seat. I couldn't wait for it to be over. I dreaded going to the gala every year, knowing what would happen.

I would end up coming home mateless. But I always had a little bit of hope.

Unknowingly that little hope would come true today.

We arrived at the gala. There were already cars here and some still pulling up. Theo opened his side of the door and leaped out, wasting no time to see Alexa. I stayed for a minute then decided to face the night. I still had to have hope.

I went inside shuffling between people to make it to the back.

As I made my way back I stopped then turned.

An aroma hit me, a sweet exotic caramel scent. I looked around to see where it was coming from. Then I spotted her. The red silk dress, hugging her curves tightly as she gently swayed her hips to the classical music playing. I couldn't help but fall into a gaze starring at the beauty.

That's when she started to move away. My heart ached in each step she took. I had to proceed and follow her.

"Atticus," I heard Theodore called me. I turned to see where he was. He was telling me some things about other packs. I wasn't listening all that much. I tilted my head to see where the beauty was, but she had disappeared.

My stomach wasn't feeling too good. Maybe I shouldn't have downed those nachos combining it with a carbonated drink. I needed the bathroom asap. Hopefully, they had spray.

I started to slowly move not wanting to upset it even more. Then it kicked in. I dashed towards the hallway opening many doors. Until I found a bathroom.

A toilet flush later...

That felt so much better. I felt like I was going to explode. I grabbed the spry and released all the can had left to make sure no scent was lingering.

Then I heard a knock. Who could it be? I grabbed the knob then opened it

"Hey!" Drew chirped at me.

"Hello, what are you doing?" I mimicked her voice back.

"Just checking on you since this is your first time at the gala and all," she said as she moved her hands, making her point.

"Yea, this is your third time? You haven't found a mate. I should be checking on you." I implied, pointing a finger towards her chest.

She swatted my hand away."It's not like I'm going to go bat shit crazy if I don't find my mate!" She said.

I puffed out some air. "Weren't you the one that said you wanted a mate?" I leaned on the counter." that you were dying to meet them?"

She snarled at me." That was when I was younger. I'm not in a rush anymore."

"Sure," I said sarcastically, turning around to look in the mirror.

She leaned her back on the wall, "So, you not going to search for him.''

She turned her head towards me." I mean that was the gala is mainly for, finding a mate."

"Yeah, I guess," I said, staring at the marbled countertop. Not wanting to go search for a mate.

She sighed, getting up and stretching.

" You know who's here?" She mischievously said.

"Who?" I asked.

"Atticus," she chirped.

"Who?" I responded.

"Atticus, you don't know the alpha of the eclipse pack. The biggest pack around. I thought you would at least know that."She said, rolling her eyes.

"What does he got to do with anything?" I responded dumbfoundedly.

"Well, he hasn't found his mate yet. Maybe, you're his mate?" She said with a smile in her voice.

"Maybe I am?" I replied cheekily.

"Imagine being with him?" she mentioned, hugging herself closing her eyes.

"Yes, imagine how soft the bed must be, Oh and the food."I licked my lips."I can smell the delicious scent!!!" I excitedly replied.

"Is that all you worried about?" she asked, raising a brow.

"Well, food is for our survival, so why not want the best?" I replied, withdrawing from the window.

She opened the door" You always think about food?"

I shrugged, proceeding to leave the bathroom, drew right on my tail.

Then, as i left my face hit a hard wall.

Wait a minute there wasn't a wall here i slowly look up then-
