My head pounded along with my feet on the sidewalk. I held a slick black gun in my hand, slightly warm around the front.
"Christian!" I yelled back. I saw him dragging a dead body into a side yard. "We have to go to! They saw us!" he runs towards me.
"Miss Jackson." he said in a voice that wasn't his. "Miss Erica Jackson wake up."My eyes flew open. I was in Lit class. Shit.
"Have a good nap?" my teacher asked, sarcastically. "You can have another in detention." She placed a pink slip on my desk. "3:15 until 4:45. I'll know if you aren't there." I picked it up and looked at the slip. An hour and a half?

I trudged into detention at exactly 3:15. The chaperone was just starting attendance. I took a seat near the back beside a guy in a hoodie with his head down.
"Erica Jackson?"
"Here."
"Christian Pines?"
"Here," the boy beside me said, lifting his head up. When he saw me, he smiled.
"Ayyeee, Erica, watcha doin' here?" he asked.
"I was sleeping in Lit. Why are you here on your first day?"
"I punched a kid."
"But it's your first day, you shouldn't hate anyone yet," I laughed. "Why'd you punch him?"
"He was talking shit about..." he paused and looked into my eyes.
"About who?"
"He was talking shit about you."
"Oh," I looked down. I squeezed my fist so my fingernails went into my hand and released. "Who was it?"
"I think his name was Donavan," he thought for a second, "I think his last name was Fitzgerald, but I'm not sure."
"Yea, I know him. One more thing," I said, "How hard did you punch him?"
Christian smiled. "Definitely a broken nose, hopefully some plastic surgery."
"Good," I grumbled.
"Did you sleep with your friend, Weston?" He mustered out.
"Of course not, why?"
"Donavan said you did."
"Oh, would it even matter if I did?"
"It would to me."
"Remember not to talk while I'm gone." the chaperone or whatever walked out of the room with some papers.
Most kids were asleep or almost asleep with their faces flat on their desks.
"Hey Erica." Christian said. I turned my head to face him.
"Yeah?" He lifted himself slightly from his chair and planted his lips directly onto mine. I immediately moved my lips in sync with his for a moment before placing my hands on his chest and shoving him backwards.
"What the hell was that for?" I asked in shock, but kind of angry.
"Thought I'd go for it." he shrugged. He actually looked surprised that I didn't go for it. "Thought you were badass."
"I might be badass, but I'm not a slut." I stood up and swung my backpack onto my shoulder. I walked to the window, opened it, and threw my bag outside.
"Erica, wait!" he called after me as I swung my legs over the edge and jumped.
