Camp Cretaceous Jurassic sized problem book 4: reclaimant (discontinued)

Part 1

In the middle of the night Smaug stood guard of the campers tree Fort and he glanced up as a rain drop landed on his head and he looked over at the others dinosaurs the campers had allied with asleep under the tree Fort and Smaug sighed and went back to watching the surrounding area. Smaug relaxed a bit when it began to drizzle rain and he listened to the sound of a distant Brachiosaurus calling out to it's herd or the distance sound of a waterfall. Smaug sat in the large fire pit in front of the camp which was now Smaug's nest as he had been dragging fallen trees, scraps of metal, and other things to make into a nest similar to the nest Rexy had on Main Street. The Spinosaurus continued to watch until he yawned and he got up and walked over towards the campers base and he used his tail to poke Ben gently signalling it was Ben's turn for watch duty and Smaug went back to his nest and lied down on the ground and he shut his eyes. Ben glanced as Smaug's tail thumped on the ground slightly as he slept and Ben sighed to himself as he leaned against one of the posts of the tree house and he was thinking to himself. However Ben fell asleep on night watch and he awakened after Brooklynn and Sammy screamed and he looked over to see compies biting them on the their arms and legs. Ben grabbed one of the small dinosaurs in his hand and threw it into the bushes and he kicked another one away, he knew he couldn't shapeshift in the tree house so he used his fists and feet to banish the compies from the tree house. Ben then made sure they were away when he chased them in his dinosaur form, the sight of a subadult Ankylosaurus chasing the compies was funny from the rudely awakened Smaug who chuckled to himself as he watched Ben kick the scavengers with his feet. "That was a bold move on the Compies part." Darius said watching and Ben trotted up to them with a guilty look on his face "Ben what did you do?" Kevin asked him and Ben sat down on his haunches and looked at the ground "I fell asleep during night watch duty was passed to me by Smaug, it's my fault." Ben stated not even bothering to look at his friends.

Darius didn't even know how to respond but he glanced over at the others. Kenji, Yasmina, and Amber had an understanding look on their face. Kevin, Zach, Gray, Brooklynn, Sammy, and Maisie had an upset look on their face. Grimlock however had a neutral look on his face, "If Dave and Roxie were here they would make you shovel the dinosaur dung." Darius stated and Brooklynn made a gagging motion remembering the smell of the pile of dung "But then again we should be grateful that you were able to chase them off before anyone was hurt." Darius admitted and Ben looked relieved "But still for your punishment Ben you have to spend the day here, while the rest of us go looking for supplies other then frozen pizza and canned food." Darius said and Ben sighed and shifted back and climbed up the ladder and sat down on one of the couches. The others then climbed down the ladder to head off and Ben put his face in his hands and he sat there alone that was until Yasmina climbed up the ladder and she collapsed onto the ground holding her ankle "Yaz? What happened?" Ben asked rushing up to her and she said in pain "My guess is the injury Markus gave me finally decided to show up." Ben then helped her stand and the two walked over to the couch and Ben sat her down and positioned her ankle onto one of the arms of the object. "It looks like it was sprained." Ben stated and that's when it hit him. "So you sprained your ankle when we were escaping the Mosasaurus pond but didn't tell anyone so you wouldn't slow us down." Ben said looking at Yaz who gave a slow nod and Ben sat down next to her and she then muttered to herself "I just didn't want you guys to think that I was useless with a sprained ankle." Ben heard her and sighed "Hey, I fell asleep on night watch. I'm pretty sure Darius won't be letting anyone give me night watch for a long time." Ben then stroked Yasmina's hair gently and she glanced at him and then back at her leg.

"So while we're waiting for the others do you want to talk about how great it is to be back home?" Ben asked and Yasmina didn't respond but Ben's attention was brought to the sound of stomping and he glanced around the area of the camp as something was approaching. Ben picked up his spear and he looked around wildly and his attention was brought to a large sauropod which dwarfed even the largest Brachiosaurus and it bellowed peacefully as it walked, Ben knew it wasn't a Mamenchisaurus it was something bigger. "Oh my god..." Ben muttered while backing away from the huge sauropod. However the sauropod didn't seem to be interested in them or their base but the pine leaves from the massive redwood tree. Darius and the others rushed back after hearing it and they skidded to a halt seeing the massive herbivore. "It's a Dreadnoughtus, it's peaceful until provoked." Darius explained as the herbivore lumbered off.
