Keith stood up from the couch, briefly looking at his watch. "Shit!", he exclaimed. He was late for the rap battle with Pico! He grabbed his red hat from the dining room table of his small, cramped apartment and quickly rushed out the door. He almost forgot to lock the door in his whirlwind, but remembered before he got down the stairs.
After hastily locking his door, he resumed his pace and started heading towards the railroad tracks in town. He wondered why Pico had chosen that particular spot to begin with. It's not the strangest place Keith had ever rapped in, he's had to rap on top of a limo before and that's about as strange as it gets. It just seemed odd that Pico had chose that place, a place where they used to play and talk.
Keith always had fond memories of those tracks. Him and Pico would pretend to be criminals on the run, nothing but their wits and each other to assist them in their escape. Back then, we felt the world was against us, somedays it still feels like that. As Keith started to think about those tracks, he remembered something he hadn't thought about in years.
One day while they were sitting near the tracks as usual, Pico brought up something very strange;
"Do you like girls?"
Keith looked up at Pico with a puzzled look, "What do you mean by that?" Pico fidgeted with the grass around him, plucking blades every once in a while. "Well, you know..just was wonderin' if you like girls, ya know?" Keith noticed how nervous Pico was acting, it was uncharacteristic of him.He was usually so loud and confident, it was off putting to see him so timid and unsure.
Keith placed his hands closer to Pico, hoping that maybe that might make him feel more comfortable. Keith looked away from him for a moment and looked up at the vast and endless blue sky above them.

"I don't know," he said bluntly. Pico looked a bit surprised, not sure how to process what he just heard. While Keith was still looking at the sky, Pico worked up some courage and grabbed Keith's hand. Pico looked back to Keith, who was now looking at him with those beautiful eyes. "Me too.."

He hadn't put much thought into that day. After Pico had said that, they just went on their day as normal, as if nothing had ever happened.
Why would he ask that kind of question? What had he hoped to gain? As he asked that, he began to put the pieces together in his mind.

He asked because he didn't like girls.

How had he not realized this sooner? God, he really was an idiot. Before he could put anymore thought into this discovery, he had made it to the railroad tracks. There he was, Pico. Keith felt a twinge of happiness everytime he saw the orange haired boy. I guess that's how friends are supposed to feel around each other. Right?
Though, he didn't feel the same way about his other friend, GF, was that normal? Pico's yelling snapped him out of his train of thought and brought him back to reality. "Hey! We gonna rap or are you going to just stand there lookin' at me?" Keith felt a little embarrassed, not realizing he was staring at Pico that whole time and tilted his hat to hide more of his face. He walked over to his position a little ways across from Pico. He looked up at GF, who gave him a reassuring smile. He exhaled deeply as he took out his microphone from his pocket, which could hold an entire microphone for some reason.
He turned it on and was ready to go. Pico looked ready as well, gun and all. "Let's see if you've improved since last time, eh?" Pico smiled devilishly, ready to crush his opponent.
Keith gulped and muttered out a small, "Yeah."
