Evening star

"The blazing sunlight slid into my bushy hair, setting drops of sweat in motion down my face.

"2 runs, 1 ball!" The scoreboard read.

The final ball leapt towards me, sneezing dust. Terror filled my nerves, holding me captive. The audience mercilessly chanted my name. "To my evening star, Adria!" I yelled internally as I swung my bat. It crashed the ball, sending it to the borders of the cricket field. "4!!" The crowd rose from their seats.

This is how, my son, I lead my country and your mother, who, an hour before my match died, to victory."

"Paapa!"
