I burst through the front door of the police station, looking around frantically. My eyes latch onto a long line running through the station.
I push through people rapidly, causing them to grumble and shout at me. I don't care. I'm getting home.
I reach the front desk and push the middle aged man out the way, giving me a full view of the police officer working the desk.
"Excuse me miss" he starts, "there's a line. You need to wait in it"
"No. You don't understand" I panic, looking over my shoulder at the door.
I don't know if he's back at the house yet. I don't know whether he's gone down to the room to find me gone. I don't know whether he's out hunting for me yet. I need to make them understand.
"Miss. All these people here have issues they need to raise. Please wait-"
"NO!" I shout, "I need help. I was kidnapped and I've just escaped. He's gonna come looking for me any moment. I need your help! Please!" I beg.
The police officer rolls his eyes and presses on his radio. I start to relax, thinking he's going to help me,
"Jackson?" he questions into the radio, "we've got a teenage girl here on drugs. Can you come get her?"
Are you kidding me!
"What!" I shout in disbelief.
Suddenly my arms are grabbed from behind, making me tense and panic instantly.
"No! Let me go!" I shout, "it's the truth! I was kidnapped! Please!" I beg, tears starting to stream down my face.
I'm starting to be dragged backwards, making me flail in their grasp, trying to escape. My eyes flicker to those in line for the desk, pleading for someone to help me. For anyone to help me. When they all start to turn their heads, I panic more, until something on the notice boards catches my eye. A missings person poster. One with my name on.
Hope starts to bubble in my chest.
"My name is Kelsie Hardings!" I shout. Almost instantly, the officer behind me freezes and every officer in the building stands and looks at me.
I take a deep breath and try to explain again now I have people's attention, "My name is Kelsie Lauren Hardings. I was kidnapped from Bakers Street in a town called Ridgeway in Utah, 7 years ago. I was 9 at the time." I pause as I watch everyone's eyes widen, "And I need your help"
