Hybrid sitter

Wtf

I sit in my cage while in animal form just breathing in the fresh air that comes threw the cracked window of the shop.
I've been here for about two years now so I guess you can say I've grown quite comfortable with being here.

"Breakfast is here". I look up to see the stores owner son Felix at the entrance of my cage.

"Morning y/n" he says happily.
I simply nod and make my way towards him as he sits my food near my water.

He then takes a sit in the corner of the room and waits for me to begin eating. I hesitate to take a bite because this is not normal of him to sit here and watch me eat.

He notices "oh it's okay you can eat you know I'll never hurt you, I just need to talk to you about something important".

I sniff the food before taking a bite.

Well

I'm not dead so woohoo to that.
"Well uh you know that the time is nearing for when you know". He takes his hand and slides it against his throat.

As I finish my food I shift into my human form and eye him from across the room.

"Yes dumbass I know they finna come and off my ass".
"Don't say it like that geez".

"Oh chill out we both know that the boss is gonna come and collect us older hybrids and put us down. We knew this was gonna happen once I turnt twenty four". I say.

"But y/n that isn't fair to you just because you guys are a bit older shouldn't matter and it sure shouldn't decide your fate".

"Felix no one is gonna adopt a twenty four year old panther hybrid".

"I will" he looks at me with pleading eyes.

"Now you know that's against the store rules".

He sits there and stares at me with his puppy dog eyes.

"Stop your to old for that now and it's offensive to dog hybrids".

~ding~

The bell that lets us know when a customer comes into the store rings.

"Well I better get back to work. Talk later"?

"Sure" I say with a small smile on my face.

Felix proceeded to leave the cage as I watched him closely.

Once he was out of eyesight I grabbed my book and laid down ready for a relaxing evening while I still had them to cherish.

That is until I hear Felix talking and him nearing my cage again. I look up and see him and an elderly looking man on the outside of my cage.

" this is our only panther hybrid sir". Felix explains and motions his hands towards my cage.

"Hmmm...I'll take her please".
