The village was all sleeping underneath the grand castle that loomed above. The night was peaceful with the quiet hum of cicadas and a chirp from the birds every now and then. The curfew was long past the time it was due, and the village folk were all nestled and tucked into bed, ready for the next 6 hours of eternal sleep. One curious mind raced and wasn't able to sit still however, prompting her grow curious thoughts. What if she had snuck out? To test the power the ever "godly" royals held over her?

The royals that lived in the vast stone castle were seen as gods by their people. The queen that ruled was compared to Victoria, the Roman goddess of victory. Her rulings were strict and harsh, which, while a downfall, kept the kingdom alive and well. Wars and battles were constant in her land, always wishing to expand her land. She only believed in perfection, and any rule breakers were unheard of after taken into custody. Some rumored that the queen would sacrifice their hands to Ultio, the Roman god of revenge, and allow their blood-loss to kill them. Others questioned if she instead murdered them herself. After all, the king had went missing years prior to the current day, and the queen showed no remorse.

Although their family spreads wide, there were only 2 other immediate heirs. Two princesses. Their identities, by tradition, must stay covered by the public eye until adulthood. This is to conceal the purity of the princesses until they were mature enough and seen fit to such a cruel world. They had never left the palace.

The first princess was never seen in the castle too much, since she was always cooped up in her grand room. She was rumored to be very soft spoken and very positive. People usually compare her to that of Latona, the Roman goddess of light. Her name was never revealed.

The second princess was always seen. Causing mischief and being a light and lighthearted break from all the stresses of ruling the kingdom. One of her favorite places in the palace was the kitchen, tasting all the foods made for dinner or breakfast. She always has a smile plastered on her face, enjoying life to the fullest. Her recklessness got caught out of hand at her mere age of 10, where the child ran out into the garden outside of the walls during the spring. Her face was covered by her cloth thankfully, or the child would've been banished. Her wild nature and love for life was comparable to Proserpina, the Roman goddess of spring. Her name was rumored to be Lily, as it was called out by her mother, during the accident.

The guards lurked the streets, keeping a close yet lazy eye on the rubble pathways. The plebian looking for adventure slipped on her deep violet cloak and pulled the hood over her light colored hair. She briefly checked out of her window for any of the sap green uniforms of the knights to be nearby. After seeing the coast clear, she scrambled to open her window and climb down the cobblestone pillars in the front of her house. She hit the ground with father's heavy boots, proceeding the run to a bush. She hid there for a moment, looking at the dimly lit paths. She huffed, taking some deep breaths.

What was she getting out of this? Adventure? Adrenaline? Closure? The girl took off from the bush to a line of trees, keeping her back pressed against it. She gulped upon hearing the clanking of some light metals clink off of each other as a guard walked past by her tree. She eventually eyed a small alley she could sneak to in order to access the side of the castle for a closer look. She quietly made her way down, staying in the shadows as much as possible.

Upon reaching the garden that lined the walls, she was mesmerized. She had always expected the entire castle to have been built with stones, however, it appeared to just have been the walls surrounding. The garden that laid in front was expansive and stunning. Tulips, roses, daffodils, daisies, forget-me-nots, and bacopas lined the perimeter. The girls draw dropped at the sight of all the flowers somehow lighting up the entire wall even in the dead of night. She bend down right outside of the alley and picked a lone allium. Always having an eye for style, she brought the flower up and tucked it behind her ear despite the cloak covering her face.
