When Louis stepped inside his home, hearts in his eyes, butterflies in his stomach, he made a beeline to his bedroom, surprisingly dodging Niall and his questions. He undressed, pulling on a pair of soft black satin panties before curling up in his bed beneath his blanket. His mind was filled with Harry until sleep swept him away, a soft smile in place on his face, body cuddled up beneath his soft and thick duvet.
The next morning, he awoke to his phone alarm blaring, causing him to grumble. His head popped up from beneath the blanket, his soft brown hair an absolute but adorable mess and eyes bleary with sleep. He groaned when he saw the time, climbing from the bed reluctantly. He stumbled a bit before righting himself, digging out a pair of dark jeans and a soft brown sweater along with his name tag. He worked at At Second Glance, a cozy little second-hand bookstore that was in a small strip of a locally owned small clothing store, a home-cooked diner, and a few more nifty little places.
Forty-five minutes later, Louis entered the bookstore, unlocking the doors carefully before stepping inside and closing them. He pushed his hair from his face before hanging up his jacket at the coat rack at the door, then beginning to straighten the shop up. It was small, and cluttered, but in a nice, cozy sort of way. Many bookshelves filled the store, but there was a little section of seating set aside for book lovers, which had a small fireplace by it and charmingly worn leather chairs.
He inhaled the scent of old books, shoulders relaxing as he smiled softly. He loved his job. Working in the book store was great, especially since he was a book-lover and an avid reader.
Promptly at nine, he flipped the old fashioned open sign to face the outside, before settling in the chair behind the counter with the book he was currently reading, the classic Tess of the d'Urbervilles. That's what he really enjoyed about his job though, having time to curl up with their books and read, since not many customers came into the book store except for a few regulars and the occasional tourist. Half way through his shift, his phone buzzed. He blinked and set his book down to pick it up, smiling softly when he saw Harry's name. He unlocked it, eyes quickly raking over the text that he had sent as little hum left his lips. He glanced around the bookstore; it was empty, so he indulged himself by texting back.
'Good afternoon to you too, Harry. Xx'
'What are you up to, darling? I'm at work.'
'I'm at work as well! At the little book store I told you about.'
They texted a bit more until a customer entered, a man named Ed, whom had a head of soft ginger hair. He sang around at the pubs around town, and was getting a bit popular. Louis wouldn't be surprised if he got plucked up by a record soon. He was amazingly talented.
"Ed!" Louis called, slipping from his chair and moving from behind the counter to give Ed a hug, beaming. "You haven't come in here in a while? How's everything going?" Ed was like a teddy bear, all soft, and he smelled good as well.
"Ah, mate, y'know, just been around. A few days ago, though, some big shot from a record label gave me a card at the pub downtown," Ed said, and after a bit more bantering, which consisted of Louis squealing about how happy he was for him, Ed bought a book and took his leave, but not before promising to call Louis later.
Three hours later, Louis found himself waiting outside for Harry to pick him up (which took a little bit of convincing on Harry's part until Louis just melted and allowed Harry to do as he pleased), his coworker inside, ringing up another customer. He didn't wait long at all for Harry to pull up, and quickly stepped inside of the warm, and expensive car, nose a little red and hair a bit messy from him wracking his fingers through it throughout the day.
"Why weren't you waiting inside? It's pretty cold outside," Harry said, waiting for Louis to buckle his seatbelt before pulling away from the curb, cranking the heat up a bit more to ensure that Louis could warm up quickly.
"'M okay, I promise. Just wanted to watch for you," Louis said, smiling softly over at Harry, whom watched the sweet flutter of his eyelashes, how his fingers twisted together in the slightest in obvious nerves, and the way that he sucked in his pretty lips as he gazed over at him. He was gorgeous.
Louis's eyes flicked in the direction of the windshield, and his lips curled into a soft smile as he relished in the fact that he was so close to the older man once again, and he didn't even have to ask to spend time with him, Harry asked first. He felt like he was a twelve year old with a crush, which he did have a crush, but he knew it was mutual. He didn't have any reason to be so nervous, but he couldn't help it. At any time, Harry could decide that he didn't want him, just pack up and leave, and sever all ties with him. But he couldn't think of that chance, because it would make him even more fidgety and nervous.
After a silent car ride, aside from the music that poured from the speakers softly, Harry surprised Louis by pulling into his own driveway. Louis had been too focused on fiddling with his fingers and nervously glancing up at Harry to notice that Harry wasn't driving towards his home. He smoothed his hands over his skinny jeans, palms a bit sweaty, before he fumblingly climbed unbuckled his seatbelt. "W-why did you take me to yours?" He stammered, but he didn't mind at all. He wanted to definitely spend more time with Harry.
Harry's lips quirked up into a grin, and he climbed from the car, before opening Louis's door for him. "Oh, love, I wanted to spend more time with you. And, I wanted to go through my rules and things for you. Is that alright?" He asked, and at Louis's soft nod, he began to lead him inside his home. After getting Liam to set a platter of chocolate chip cookies and cups of tea on the coffee table in the living room, Harry had Louis sit down on one of the leather couches before sitting down next to him, and picking up the packet of papers from the table, before handing them to Louis. "I'm going to help you go through his, okay?"
With a gulp, Louis's eyes scanned the print before flicking up to meet Harry's, and he nodded. He was ready. And with that, he opened the first page, and began to read.
