One Summer

Chapter 3

Vera's P.O.V
I was so scared but I didn't want to tell Kian that I hate roller coasters, he seemed so excited. I noticed Kian looking at me. Creepyyyy. Just kidding it was kind of cute

So I asked jokingly "What are you looking at?"

"Are you nervous?" He said it so sweet ugh made my heart melt

"A little, but I'll be fine the only thing that I'm worried about is if I'm tall enough!" I laughed, this was kind of true because I'm pretty short. I'm about 5'7.

He laughed at put his arm around me, he smelt so gooooood! On the inside I was squealing and celebrating but on the outside I was trying to play it cool, like I'm used to this kind of stuff. But let me tell you a little secret about me... I haven't had many boyfriends before only 2 and they didn't know what to do. Plus I'm the president of the awkward community!

The man working the ride motioned us over to a car and buckled us in. It was kind of hard to situate myself so my skirt wasn't coming up and showing everything.

Kian's P.O.V

The dude lead us to the car. I let Vera get in first. She looked so nervous so I kept my arm around her. She was wearing one of those skater skirts and it started going up and, Damn was that hot! She kept trying to pull it down but it was to late I saw everything!

"Nice underwear" I said with a smirk

Her eyes got so big and she was blushing so much, it was adorable.

"Calm down.. I didn't see anything" I was lying but she doesn't know that.😏

"Why would you say that!? You scared me!" She yelled but she smiled after, so I knew she was joking.

I just laughed and the roller coaster started. The clicking of it going up the first hill was filling me with anxiety. As we started to go over Vera grabbed my hand and squeezed it tight.
There were flips and twists and all that fun stuff but then the ride was over.
We got off and started walking back toward the lifeguard shack because all the food is near there.
There was a sign on the shack that said "NOW HIRING" I looked at it for a minute while she was talking about how much she loved to swim and be at the beach. So I glanced over to her and then pulled her toward the shack. Surprisingly she just let me pull her but she was still confused when we got there.

"Look!" I pointed to the sign

"Uhh cool..." I could really tell she had no clue.

"Vera, you were just telling me about how much you love the beach and swimming. This job makes you have to come here all day!" I tried to explain

"I don't know if they will let me, the only thing I know about lifeguarding is stuff that I was taught in junior lifeguard for one summer." Her eyes looked sad but beautiful.

"That's okay they can teach you!" I pulled her into a hug, she looked so depressed and I don't understand why she is....

I took her hand and started to walk towards thrashers to get some fries. We ordered and got them she put vinegar on them just how I love them, she's definitely a keeper!
We finished our fries and our little conversations about everything.

"Hey, you wanna go on an adventure?!" I had a place in mind.

"It's only 3 o'clock so why not" she giggled

I laughed at her as I got up to head to the place.
"Still have your penny board?" I asked as I set mine down

"Always! This comes everywhere!" She joked.
We started down the street past all the shops, past the hospital, and past the cemetery. We turned into a little park. It has a slide and all of that but it also has a trail that goes around a pond. And there are benches that sit right under the trees and look out over the pond. It's beautiful,
I looked over at Vera and her eyes sparkled in the sun light. I screamed as loud as I could, "RACE YOU!!!"
I took off. Vera was really fast and started to pass me, so I started to go faster but wasn't fast enough.
She beat me and celebrated and teased me. We sat on the bench and sat there quietly for about 2 mins. Vera just looked over at me and waited until I looked at her, when I looked she gave me a goofy smile and got up and walked to one of the trees.
