We hear the footsteps strut to our closet and Ian loosens his grip on me slightly. He's coming. The doorknob jiggles open and Ian slams his shoulder into it. Holy hell! The mongrel is shoved back in shock and Ian punches him sending him down the stairs. Ian turns to me grabbing my hand to pull me out but I yank it away. I don't wanna leave him to handle all of them.

"Kat, get to your room now!" Ian hisses and I stumble out of the closet. What is he gonna do?! "Now Katherine!" Ian snaps and I go to run but someone grabs me making me scream. "Ian!" I yelp and he runs to get me but another one runs up the stairs at him. I slam my black boot heels into my attacker's feet and he groans as he leans down allowing my feet to touch the ground. I double over and he falls over me on his back. Holy shit that worked! He growls in annoyance and pushes himself to his feet.

"Dammit girlie!" He yells and goes to punch me but I duck out of the way. I kick him to his chest sending him into my door and he gasps at the pain of the doorknob in his back. Dad was right about one thing at least, I'll give him that. I hear a shot and turn to the sound. Ian shot the other one in the head. My attacker takes advantage of my distraction and charges at me. Ian shoots him mercilessly and walks over to me. I look to the three bodies surrounding us and Ian takes my hand.

"Kat? Where did you learn to fight like that?" Ian asks as he puts his gun in his waistband and I look up at him as tears fill my eyes. "My dad... he thought this would happen one day so we took martial arts for six years... I didn't think I would ever remember it. It was years ago." I croak and he sighs as he hugs me tightly. "It's okay, doll. I've got you. I'll call Hickerson." He sighs and pulls out his phone as I start to sob. They were actually going to take me. What the hell has happened to my life?!

"Hickerson, mate, I need you. Aiden sent some men to take Katherine. I handled it but it's a mess over here. We're at Austin's home. Bring a crew, medics, and your techs." Ian warns and hangs up. Ian helps me downstairs and sits with me outside on the white swinging porch chair while we wait for the FBI. He lights a cigarette with his right hand while he hugs me to his side with his other and I just cry. They destroyed his home. It's a wreck.

Several vans pull up moments later and they all storm the house while Hickerson walks over to us. "Owens. Ms. Stevens, are you okay?" Hickerson asks and I silently nod as I hug my knees to my chest. "This was not okay, Hickerson! He's never done any damage to any person! What the fuck is all of this?!" Ian yells and Hickerson sighs as he shakes his head. "I don't know. You know as much as I do. But you have two dead bodies in there Ian. I don't know if I can just explain this away with the oddness of it all. As you said, Aiden doesn't hurt people." Is this moron being serious right now?

"What?! You wanna say Ian brought this on us?! If it weren't for Ian then they would have taken me! They came here to take me! How about you tell them that?!" I roar and Hickerson looks at me shocked. "You're saying Ian was forced to kill two men in order to save you? You are aware of what he's done right?" He asks and I scoff as I stand to my feet. Morons. All of the law enforcement apparently.

"Yes, I am! They came here looking for me hoping I would lead them to the magic that is my father's masterpiece! They tore my home apart! They were saying they had to take me alive! If it weren't for Ian... You're a moron. Get your evidence, get the bodies, and get the fuck off my property! I don't deal with people that waste my time." I yell and storm away as Ian runs after me. I run out to the backyard and collapse in the snow. My safe places and memories are being destroyed by monsters and mongrels intent on using my father's genius creations for money. Why is this happening to me? I just wanted a normal peaceful life and this is what I got. This?! Why is this what I got? Why am I being tortured like this?!

"Katherine, this isn't the end of the world. We can fix the home up again." Ian sighs as he sits on his knees in front of me and I look at him through blurry tears. "And what about the memories they ruined? The happy memories I have in every inch of this home. The ones they ruined by destroying what I had here. A safe place to be away from the world and to be at peace with my memories of my father. What about the things I can never get back?" I sob and he sighs as he pushes my disheveled hair out of my face. He probably just feels sorry for me. Or he's scared I'm gonna hurt myself with all that's going on.
