A few months passed and I completely forgot the embarrassing fact that I kissed my boss topless. It was spring time. Our first time we made a huge amount of money ever, so Darryl celebrated with a party. It was all because of me. I knew this. The owner and my boss knew this. Others did not. No one acknowledged this except the random scowl from James when I would make something unbelievably good while lying to everyone. My stance was that Emma and I were getting closer to the wedding and work was something I ignored now. I had to go to the party though.
This party that included the horrible printer people in the back of D. L. Design. This was held at a 'nice' bar. Emma was there with Darryl. Max was there with some hot chick. James was surprisingly alone. I was alone as well. The printer people I didn't know as well as everyone else. There were a lot of people in the bar.

I put on a long, skin tight, thin, transparent, black dress with an expensive gold belly chain around my waist. I wasn't wearing panties or a bra either. I paired it with four inch red Louboutins. I could dress sexy at any party I felt like in my opinion. Everyone's eyes followed me when I got there. I was beyond annoyed until I saw James with his mouth wide open at my dress. It looked very sultry. James was staring at me and I bet he was mad at me for it. Here's to hoping I get some bad attention, James. I don't want your protection no more. James saw me smiling at him across the room. I was happy in my clothes.

Luckily the attention suddenly went to someone from printing named Nate, on the stage announcing, "People this year who rock! All of you at D.L. Designs I want to thank Max for killing it!"

I spit out my drink.

Then he continued, "Darryl for selling me on getting married! Emma you are going to be pregnant before you know it with the way you two look at each other! My man James for his designs on the Clark Building! Victor on his-."

I looked at them forgetting me and then I heard it. Nate said, "Max for his work on the big account Worth-Meyer Lighting! That was genius brother!" I did the entirety of that work and it was elegantly done by only me. I felt my face fall. That wasn't right. That hurt me very bad. I opened my mouth in disgust as I looked around at all this trash surrounding me. Fuck them!

Nate finished up without mentioning anything but how Max stole my work. I nodded at the bartender and said, "Bottle of tequila." I blinked back tears in silence that no one noticed.

I poured it down my throat until James came up to me. He noticed and knew that was wrong. James said, "Una. Nate just didn't say anything because there are a lot of people he doesn't know and he thought Max did the work on Worth-Meyer Lighting because you work close together. It was shitty of him but he is also drunk. I know that was your work and you did every part of it excellently skilled. You are better than Max in every way. You know this like I know this, Una."

"We're not at work James. I don't have to listen to this bullshit. Where's Emma? I came with her." A tear slid down my cheek and he didn't miss that.

James tried to explain, "She took off with some of the rest of them to go across the street to a different bar."

I cried in tears to him above a whisper, "I want to go home!" I felt the tears fall.

James said, "I'll take you home. I know you're upset." James empathized and worried for me.

I chugged more tequila and looked dead on at James. "How could you know how I feel? I'm just some walking T&A who contributes solely for Max's recognition within the printing division. Max is paid more than me I found out accidentally. Darryl doesn't pay me well enough. You know I do Max's work. He gets credit for it and people don't remember that I work my expensive ass off here instead of being a famous painter. And I never waste time talking with the printers all day long so they don't know me like they know Max."
