Valentina's POV
I'm excited, you might be wondering why:

Tonight, my boyfriend was surprising me with a nice dinner at a nice restaurant. This was supposedly more special than our other dates, according to my boyfriend, Liam.

For starters, he's a 22 year old English man. Coincidentally, our birthdays' are 2 weeks apart, making him older. We fell in love in college, during our first year. We didn't need to go to a school after that for whatever we were studying since we would be carrying on our family's mafia legacy. We made an agreement to marry after college since it would prevent a lot of stress. Of course I'm not completely sure when he will propose but it will happen soon enough. We were in calculus and we became good friends quickly as we sat next to each other. We were inseparable best friends until he asked me out a month later as we were sitting in our favorite cafe.

For dinner, I wore a red lace corset, red dress pants, a black purse, with some red heels. I kept my hair down, but slightly curled it.

I arrived at the restaurant, it was a high, skyscraper building with tables and chairs neatly scattered throughout.  Tall windows filled the large room as well as grand light fixtures. It was magnificent.

As I walk in the restaurant, I see Liam. He's wearing green dress pants with a matching green suit jacket along with a white long sleeve button up. I start making my way toward him, loud chatter filled the room as well as the slight clicking of my heels. He's on his phone until he looks up and sees me, a innocent smile spread across his face.

"Hey baby," he says as I bend down to peck his lips.

"Hey love," I reply as I sit in the comfortable chair placed at the table.

About two minutes go by and the waitress comes with some glasses of waiters. She gently places them down then takes out her black notepad with her matching black pen. She clicks the pen as she has it positioned over the notepad where she will be taking our orders, as it looks.

"Hello there, I'm Amelia and I will be taking your orders." She says as she gives us both a friendly smile. She looks to be in her mid twenties with tan skin, brown eyes, and short curly brown hair. She has full, pink lips and clear skin.

"I'll just have some red wine and some spinach ravioli, please." I say as she jots down my order. She looks up and smiles, signaling she's done with my order.

"And I'll just have white wine along with the salmon." He says as she then continues to write on her notepad.

"Alrighty! Your food will be out shortly, and your drinks will be here in no time!" She says to us, cheerfully as she struts away.

It's been a couple minutes until we have everything we ordered. We start to dig in and devour this food. Judging by our faces, you can tell we're satisfied.

I giggle looking at Liam's face as he leans his head back and rolls his eyes with a mouthful of food. Obvious he's enjoying it. He then locks his eyes with mine and giggles along with me.

After a couple minutes, we finish our food and grab the check. Not bothering to get dessert since our stomachs couldn't take anymore. We get the check and after a 'payment' small argument, Liam insists on paying and gets his way, after telling him not to pay.

"My treat, baby, don't worry about it," he says to me and chuckles seeing me pout and whine in return, giving up.

After paying, I get up and pay attention to my chair as I'm dusting it off in case I got any food crumbs on it. As I finish dusting off, I turn around and stop in my tracks when I see Liam kneeling on one knee. I gasp in shock, knowing exactly what he is doing.

"Liam..." I say, speechless, dead in my tracks.

"Valentina Fabri, I knew you were the one the day I saw you in that calculus class. I knew I wanted to marry you and have you carry my children the moment I told you I loved you for the first time. Now, I want to be with you for the rest of our lives, grow old together, wake up next to you everyday, so, will you marry me?" He says looking up at me with my hands over my mouth, in shock. I was happy, excited.

As I'm about to answer, I hear screams and loud booms. Shouts fill the room. I look down at my fiancé with his horrified face. My face goes pale once I see a large whole in his chest and blood dripping down. I gasp, trying to breathe. Once I reacted, I bent down to hold him as he looks as me with a sad look, tears streaming down. I didn't cry very often. Everyone calls me principessa vigoroso (strong princess).

"Stop it, look at me, you're okay, you're going to be okay," I tell him with my voice cracking as he slouches on me while I'm holding him tight on the floor.

"Don't worry about me amore, it happens, just know I love you," he says, looking up at me with a sympathetic smile. Soon enough, I feel his breathing stop and see him fully rest in my arms.

"No, no, no, no," I say, completely sobbing, at this point.

That was the day my world shattered...

Completely...
