the black haired female sat in her English class, looking through the widow. it had been ten months since the giant war, since her friends have died.
Percy Jackson sighed as she heard the bell ring, signaling the end of the school day. people around her started speaking excitedly, talking about what they were planning to do in the upcoming summer break.
Percy just packed up her things as quickly as possible and walked out of the class, not before bidding her teacher a goodbye.
she dragged her legs to her locker and grabbed her backpack and other books, packing them carefully, as to not rip any of them. those textbooks cost a fortune, I tell you.
as she closed her locker she spotted one of the so-called 'popular guys' of her school approach her. she just turned around, rolled her eyes and started walking briskly, hoping he got the memo. he didn't.
"hey, sweet cheeks, don't walk away from me like that-" he said, jogging to catch up with the annoyed girl.
"I'm not interested in talking to you, so I don't see why I shouldn't."
"come on, love, don't be like that."
at this point they reached the front of the school, where other people were gathered to wait for their parents to pick them up.
as soon as she heard the nickname, she turned around and lashed out. "don't call me that, jackass. go to your friends and don't bother me again."
"oh, no need to be fiesty. plus, what are you going to do...love?"
if she was angry before, she was absolutely livid now. she slapped him, not putting that much strength in it, as to not raise suspicion of her inhuman strength. she still knocked him to the ground, though.
he looked at her, shocked that she actually did that. he gathered his composure, and got to his feet. by now, a crowd was starting to form, and the guy's little friends had come running over to help their leader.
he gripped her wrist and tried to pull her away, but the girl didn't budge. he stepped closer to her, attempting to close the distance between them. "now, listen here you little bitch, you-"
"now, now, leave the lady alone."

the guy blinked in shock, as he was not standing in front of Percy anymore. he was now several feet away, his path being blocked by a green-eyed, black-haired mountain of a man.
"..." the jock faltered a bit before his smug grin returned to his face. "come on, man, this isn't your business, let me just talk to her, she's hysteric."
Percy raised her brows at this dude. 'really? that's what you're going to say?' she thought.
"well, from what I see, you're the hysteric one here, and the lady doesn't seem comfortable. so. back. off."
the jock's goonies cowered behind him and the guy himself looked like he was close to pissing his pants. finally, he straightened his back and started speaking. "fine. this is over for now. don't think I won't remember this."
Percy smiled a little when the dude ran off with his friends. she turned to her 'savior'. "thanks for that, can I do anything to repay you?"
"well, you could tell me your name..." he said, grinning.
the girl looked around to the crowd still watching their interaction. "sure, let's just get out of here first."

the two strangers walked side by side aimlessly, searching for a good spot to sit down and talk. she flagged down a café that had some tables free. she pointed it out to the green-eyed man and he agreed to sit down with her to chat.
"so... you still haven't told me your name."
Percy laughed quietly. "my name's Percy Jackson, what about yours?"
"Jason Todd."
"so, Jason Todd, why did you go out of your way to help little ol' me?"
he awkwardly rubbed his nape. "well, I was walking by and I saw a pretty lady being harassed by some dude, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have been the only one to have done what I did."
Percy raised a brow at his words, before softly smiling. "I guess so." she picked up the menu and looked through it, before deciding on her order. she flagged down a waitress, raising her hand.
the blonde girl smiled at the two. "hello, and welcome to The Coffee Club! what can I get for you two lovebirds?"
I sputtered for a bit, while Jason smirked. "no, ah-, we're not together!"
the waitress seemed a bit embarrassed, but she quickly recovered. "ah, so sorry about that! you just looked close!"
"it's fine." Jason said, chuckling a bit. "we actually just met." he cleared his throat. "I'd like to order black coffee, please."
"and I'd like to get a cappuccino, please."
"right away!" the waitress walked away from the table as quickly as possible, all while mumbling to herself about her stupidity and how she hated social interactions.
Jason laughed slightly. "well, that was interesting."
the corners of Percy's mouth quirked upwards. "I guess it was."

after exchanging numbers with Jason, Percy speed-walked to the foster house she lived in, sharing it with three other kids.
when she got home she quietly closed the door behind her, taking of her shoes and trying to sneak upstairs to just avoid her foster parents.
that was, until she heard someone clear their throat behind her.
"where do you think you're going?"
"...fuck"
