(Written in 2017)  Roommate AU

The clock ticked on the wall as time inched closer to the the upcoming exam. Scott laid on his stomach, propped on his elbows, silently repeating words and phrases as his eyes scanned the thick text book in front of him. A highlighter was tucked behind one of his earbud filled ears and he looked extremely stressed.

Eventually, Scott threw the boring book and rested his head on his arms. He was so not into reading that right now. This wasn't working.

His roommate, Mitch, walked in their shared room just as a book flee across and on his side.

"Woah! ...Scott?" He walked over to his bed and put his bag down, expecting a response. It didn't come, though. He looked closer and seen that Scott couldn't hear him.

Mitch bent down to retrieve the slightly tattered book and tossed it back in front on Scott. The blonde boy jumped a tad before looking up and being graced with his best friend's dimpled smile. He removed an earbud and waited.

"Finish studying, Starfish," Mitch said kindly, quick to be the motherly friend. "Your test is tomorrow afternoon. No time to waste."

"I can't. It's so boring and I'm tired and stressed and when I sit up to study, my back hurts. I lay down and I wanna go to sleep instead," he whined, as expected. "There's no win."

"You have to, babe."

"Ugh, fine." He reopened the book and began reading under his breath.

Mitch toed his shoes off and quickly changed into sweats with the name of the University on it before climbing on Scott's bed. The blonde didn't react. Well, until Mitch straddled his back.

"What are you doing? You want me to study but you're preventing it."

Mitch responded by gently massaging the broad shoulders beneath him. "No, I'm helping. Now study."
