Kyotani was bored. Like really bored. And tired. He slowly started to regret his decision to ask Yahaba for help in Maths. They were sitting in Yahaba's small but cosy room, hunched over their homework for over two hours now, and it started to get on Kyotani's nerves.

Why would someone even need all these formulas and problems containing buying 50 melons? Who was going to buy 50 melons anyway? It didn't make sense. But his grades were shit, and he needed to do something before he got kicked from the team.

He tried to recall when and why exactly he started to care so much about staying in the club. He was still quite new to this teamwork thing, only starting to gain the trust of others on the team. So why did he even bother?

"Kyotani, are you listening?"

He snapped out of his thoughts and looked at Yahaba, sitting opposite him at the table.

Oh, yes, that's why.

He and Shigeru got together some time after their loss to Karasuno. To say it was one crazy day would be an understatement but in the end, they somehow managed to confess their feelings to each other. Even though Kentaro stumbled over his own words, run away embarrassed and had to be dragged back by Iwaizumi, who couldn't watch their pining any longer, while Shigeru looked like he wanted to die on spot. That was three months ago.

They still struggled a bit with the whole relationship thing, like hugging and cuddling and such, as Kentaro wasn't very keen on PDA or physical affection overall. They kissed a few times, sometimes linked their fingers when they were alone, but didn't go past that yet. But he was trying. He was determined to make it work. Same as he was determined to do better at Math to stay on the team. He just hoped Shigeru understood.

"What?"

Shigeru let out an exhausted sigh.

"Stop zoning out, or we'll sit here till tomorrow."

"It would go better if these ... numbers made some sense," growled Kentaro while trying to burn through the papers with his eyes.

"You just have to remember two formulas and then use it."

"But that's the problem. I don't understand which numbers to pull out and put into the formula. Isn't math supposed to be about rules? I don't see any rule here."

Shigeru pinched his nose in exasperation, obviously trying to stay calm.

"Ok, look. Let's take a short break, get something to eat and then get back to it. Sounds good?"

Kentaro sighed in relief and nodded, already thinking about ways to distract Shigeru from getting back to studying.

They went downstairs into the kitchen. They were all alone in the house, as Shigeru's parents had to attend some work gathering over the weekend. That's why they decided to stay at Yahaba's and study there.

While Shigeru was rummaging through the various cupboards looking for some snacks, Kentaro looked out of the window, noticing the dark heavy clouds hanging low in the sky.

The storm is probably coming, he thought.

As if on cue, a flash of lightning crossed the sky, illuminating the kitchen, soon followed by a boom of thunder.

He felt Shigeru tensing next to him. He looked at him, taking note of Shigeru's paling face and clenched hands.

"You ok?"

Shigeru looked at him with wide eyes.

"Yeah, yeah, I'm fine. Let's go up again, shall we?"

He grabbed the snacks and fast-paced back upstairs, waving for Kentaro to follow him. He frowned. Something was suddenly off about Shigeru. Confused, he followed him back to his room.
