1978

The entire week had been a chaotic one as it was their first week after leaving Hogwarts and had spent the entire time trying to get their flats ready to move into and pack up their stuff from their parents' houses.

The first house they visited was Lily's as, all though her horrible sister and brother in law had moved down south since getting married, they tended to visit from time to time and thought it best if lily was out of the line of fire when they did. Mrs. Evans spent most of the day staying out of the way in the kitchen preparing for a sort of 'goodbye meal' for lily and claiming that "she was perfectly fine". Sirius didn't like to mention at the time but once or twice he had heard sniffling coming from the kitchen but thought best to leave it. Mr. Evans however helped move stuff from Lily's room and even offered to drive some of her stuff in his car if Remus' didn't have the room. The tea was uneventful and mostly consisted of James and Sirius interrogating Mr. Evans about his job, peter asking for seconds of everything and  Mrs. Evans Badgering Lily about if the flat was in a safe area? did they have enough food? and was all of the electric and pipes sorted?.

The next day they decided, as they were moving in together, it was the most  logical to go to James' house, as well as Sirius' stuff to take to his and Remus' flat just down the road. This process was pretty much they same as the Evans house, Euphemia fussing over the both of them, making sure their clothes were clean they got everything they needed (and possible a bit extra. Fleamont had tried to help but occasionally took breaks to get his breath back, James tried not to show it but he had been concerned about his dad's health for sometime now, the only other person knowing being Sirius but that was hard to avoid when you lived in the same house. Sirius' room was easier to pack up as most of his stuff had either been left in his old room or had never been unpacked to being with. after everything had been packed up they ate tea and exhausted decided to floo to the flats that night.

The next two visits to peter and Remus' house weren't as eventful and the Potters and the Evans. Mr. and Mrs. Pettigrew, much like Peter, were short and stout with kind faces. They helped them pack all of Peter's stuff and even offered to help them put furniture together but the marauders denied claiming they were grown ups now and wanted to do it for themselves. Eventually Mr. and Mrs. Pettigrew sent them on their way but not before giving Lily and James a Sheppard's pie, Remus and Sirius a trifle and Peter a Tupperware full of bread and butter pudding.  Peter had turned down Remus and Sirius' offers and decided to get a flat on his own flat even further down the same street from the others joking "thought you would be sick of me by now".  At the Lupin house they found only Lyall to be home explaining that his wife was at work but sent her love to them all. Although his seemingly pleasant nature Remus often caught his dad attempting to subtly interrogate Sirius, asking him about his experiences with Remus during full moons and if he was able to handle it. After a short bollocking  from Remus sent them on their way warning his son that he better write and call them or he'd send his mother after him.

The last few days of the week were mostly spent in their respective flats, meeting during day to get things sorted and for the most part went rather well, until what would soon be called 'The Sofa Incident'.
