"Class dismissed," a sea of kids flooded through the door, all talking about what they were going to do over the weekend while I walk in the back of the group thinking. When most of the kids were out the door heading to singing classes or speech meets I begin my walk to the car that seems as if it took an eternity. Then a girl walked up to me and complimented my hair "I love your hair, did you dye it?" I didn't answer "Hello? Did you hear me...I'm Candice but you can call me Candy, what's your name?" a tear rolls down my cheek taking any bit of joy I had down with it. "Oh my gosh! are you all right?" I motion with my hands to explain my condition "Oh you can't speak?" I nodded. "Oh I am so sorry, I didn't know! I wish there was something I could do." She put her arm around me and I weeped. "I know how you feel." I looked at her confused, I saw in her eyes that she was about to cry but she held it in "I feel your pain because... I'm deaf."
