Chapter 2

"Sit."

I did as I was told, the clicking of my heels against the floor filling the silent room. I pulled back the wooden chair and sat down, noticing the yellowish folder in his hand. "Hi, Gray." I said and tapped my short fingernails against the table once. He shuffled the papers in the folder and then spoke.

"Agent Ross, we got a call last night. Someone was offering a job."

My ears perked up. "They were offering... a LOT of money." I blinked. Gray never hesitated while speaking. In fact, it always kind of spooked me how it was like he was reading off a script. "Agent Ross, this job could be the turning point of this organization. If we fail, this man has connections. He could ruin us. So, we need the best agent. You." He smirked. I rolled my eyes. He opened the folder and pulled out a few papers with a picture paper-clipped to them. My eyes almost popped out. Because the picture was of... Louis Tomlinson. I looked at Gray. He nodded solemnly. I unclipped the picture and read the pages.

    NAME: LOUIS TOMLINSON

   AGE: 21

LOCATION: LONDON, IN  THREE WEEKS GOING TO NEW YORK

   DEADLINE: JULY 16, 2013

   DATE: APRIL 15, 2013

   CLIENT: CALDER

   AGENT ON MISSION: ROSS

I looked up at Gray again. Before I could speak he did. "Yes, that is the international superstar Louis Tomlinson." I gaped at him. "I'm supposed to k-kill him?" I stuttered. Gray gave me a questioning look. "Yes...you're fine with that, Agent Ross. You're fine with that. You always are." I nodded slowly, then nodded again at normal pace. "Uh, yeah. Yeah, I am." I remembered my rule: never get attached. But something didn't sit right inside of me. Looking at his face, his smile, he seemed... innocent.  "Good." Gray said firmly. "You leave tonight." I nodded solemnly and pursed my lips. It's always hard leaving Ingrid. I'll tell her I'm doing a month long school trip or something. I stood up and took the papers with me. "Agent Ross," he added. "We'll be sending the usual team out with you - they'll be a step away if you're in serious trouble." I nodded and walked to the door. "And, Agent Ross," he called out one last time. "Get the job done. Or you're out."
