"Brother in law?"

It was morning already and Dani couldn't sleep, either she had a lot of coffee last night or she was obsessed in getting an explanation of why her sister never talked to them about Jamie. It was very weird.

After she ran into Jamie in the kitchen, they both would share looks. But she was trying to read his mind and maybe he was just really nervous. Dera didn't even explain the situation, she just started drinking wine and started talking about her present and future projects. Jamie was not able to say a word. She just wouldn't stop talking.

6:40 am Dani went out of her bed.

<< There is no point staying in bed, right Yogi? >> Dani thought as she looked at her dog and petted him behind the ears. He was the cutest golden retriever, but Dani felt he was sad.

- Do you miss him boy? Because I know I do and it's been only a day.- Dani said stroking Yogi's hair. The dog didn't even woke up to play.

After Dani is out of bed the golden would usually run to get the ball and give it to his owner while she's getting ready to go out, but that day it was like if Yogi knew Dorian wouldn't be back home. Yogi looked depressed.

I'm sorry Yogi, we'll be fine. I promise.- Dani left the bed feeling bad for Yogi but she wasn't able to help him since she wasn't feeling good as well.

Dani brushed her teeth, put on a black dress and took a black coat. It was a cold day in Chicago and it was going to be colder knowing her father was gone.

She was walking to go downstairs barefoot while saving her cellphone and trying to close her purse with her boots in her hands when she crashed into her new and unknown brother in law who was coming from downstairs.

- Wow! You really hate me don't you?- He asked by grabbing her by the arms avoiding her fall over the stairs, and smiling at her

- Why would I? I don't even know you.- Dani said while removing his hands from her arms. 

<<What a nice smile>>

- You're just another guest who's staying in my house by the way.- She continued her course downstairs.

<<Damn he looks great>>

- I'm... Sorry? It's not my fault.- Jamie lifted his arms acting confused.

<<I know, put on a shirt>>

 Mmm... Isn't it too early for you to be wearing black? I mean the reception starts at 11:00am and the funeral will be at 1:00 pm.- Said Jamie frowning

- Yeah well, it is never too early in this house.- Dani replied while running to the front door.

<<It is too early to be out of the bed, what the heck?>>

Dani felt the air outside. It was cold but there was a little breeze. She was loving it. She felt this knot again in her throat, she never expected to see a guy that way, even less if it was with her sister, she better decided to light up a cigarette, jump to her audi and drove away wishing to get lost...

*After 20 minutes driving*

- Well, I hope you're here because you're on your way to your father's funeral and not because you're barely going back home.- Dani turned her head from the window and saw Tony, her uncle, brother of her mother. He was holding a coffee pot.

- Hi Tio, well I woke up early and didn't know what to do, so... I came here for a coffee.- Dani drove all the way to her Uncle's diner, he was open since early in the morning, and Dany after some party would always go there to have coffee so she wouldn't go back home that drunk.

- Really? Well isn't that a miracle?- Uncle Tony told her trying to laugh but while looking at her his eyes were almost in tears.

- I know, right?- She took his hand.- It's okay I'm gonna be fine.- She whispered to him with a smile on her face.

- I really hope so.- Said Tony while pouring coffee on her cup.- I'm gonna be here for whatever you need, you know that right?.- Tony decided to take a seat in front of Dani.

Dani turned her face to the window and took a deep breath wondering if it was alright to talk about it to him or not...

- I'm really confused right now!- Dani confessed

- Dera... She came home last night for the funeral, but she didn't tell us she was engaged, I'm not sure why.- Dani took a deep breath again, why did Dera hide that from them? Even from Dani they used to tell each other everything.

- Well, I think right now is not the time to ask why, but to be there for your sister, don't you think? I mean she'll talk to you when she's ready, you girls have always had this bond between you, don't let that situation mess with your mind.- Uncle Tony always had the right words, he always knew what to say. And he was right because Dani could get hooked on everything very easily.

Of course she knew he was always going to be there for her no matter what, it's a shame his father got away from him, they used to be good friends. Why do the best things change within time?

- I know... but... - Dani hesitated

- Well I mean, thank you, you have no idea how good it makes me come here to talk to you Tio, you always help me through.- Dani thought maybe it was better to not have that conversation but was indeed very thankful to her uncle.

You only say that because I always save your ass with a coffee.- Uncle Tony said winking.- Or maybe because you want a free Dani Special.

- Oh well you got me Tio. I thought I could be nice but well, I guess I can't.- Dani laughed and realized how happy she was to have someone who would still spoil her no matter how old she gets.

- I knew it!- Said Tony touching her nose.- Rita! Please get me a Dani Special, right now!- Rita was Tony's 2nd wife. When she heard "Dani" she ran to hug her.

- Ay! Mi niña, que hermosa estás! .- Said Rita by looking at her as if she hadn't seen her in a long time.- Lamento mucho lo de tu papi, I'm really sorry.- Rita was still not able to speak english very well.

- Gracias Rita.- Dani just thanked her, she really hated to receive people's condolences. But she knew Rita someday would understand. Rita just got away from her, she was a little confused about Dani's coldness.

- Bueno ya, vamos! Hazle el especial a mi niña.- Tony said hurrying Rita.- ¡Por favor corazon!- He tried to soften his voice at last. He just knew how to talk to his women. He was able to understand Dani, she has always been cold with anyone but her family. She was a little girl with a huge heart and Tony knew that huge heart was still inside her somewhere.

- Por favor Rita, muero de hambre!- Dani told her, grabbing her hand, feeling like maybe she went too hard on Rita before.

- Si, está bien, con gusto mi niña.- Said Rita Smiling.

It seems that worked.
