"You ready?" My grandfather said

"Huh?" I said as I closed the stopwatch. It's pretty old. It was a golden 1972 stopwatch. It was a bit rusty. As I closed the stopwatch I saw my reflection. With my classic brown fluffy (wavy) hair. My flannel shirt. And of course, my glasses. My favorite pair out of every single glasses my grandfather bought me. My white glasses with a rounded rim of the lenses.

"School. Are you ready for school?"

Shit. I was too busy thinking about my dad to even realize what time it was.

"I- I- yeah. I'm ready."

"Really? Because it looks like you have no shoes on, you probably haven't even eaten breakfast yet."

"Grandpa. I'm ready."

He sighed and just left my room. I walked to my dresser and saw a picture of me, my mom, and my dad. All together. When things were better. I looked down to my right and grabbed my shoes. I sat down on my bed and slid my foot into the shoe. As I tied my shoe I was thinking about the night that I saw them before they died.

-flashback-

"Okay sweetie, your father and I are gonna be back in a week okay? We love you" Jonathan's mom said.

-end of flashback-

I slipped my other foot in my shoe and stood up. I checked my phone, no text messages. I unplugged my phone and put in my earbuds. I played my music, grabbed my backpack, and headed out the back door without my grandfather seeing.

As I walked down to my bus stop I saw my bestfriend Miley.

"Hey birthday boyyy"

"Noooo, you know I hate my birthdays."

"Bro, you're turning fifteen. This means you get to get your permit, you should be excited!"

"I guess, it just reminds me that I'm another year without my parents."

"I'm sorry bro. I wish I could have met them."

"You would have loved them"

We got at the bus stop and waited.
