My Ramen

Chapter 6

Noodles found me sitting on the bench crying. He walks over and sits beside me. I pull my knees to my chest and turn away.
Noodles: "Did I do something wrong?"
Y/n: "Yes."
Noodles: "What did I do?"
Y/n: "You won't leave me alone."
Noodles: "I just wanted to make sure you're ok."
Y/n: "Well, I'm fine."
I say sniffing.
Noodles: "No you're not."
I look up at his concerned face.
Y/n: "You're-"
I can't keep rejecting him. I start to cry harder than I was. He wraps his arms around me.
Noodle: "Let it out."
He kisses my temple.
Noodles: "You didn't expect to get it on the first try, did you?"
Y/n: "Well, no. But I'm never gonna get it. Not with a million tries. You know why? Because I'm useless."
Noodles: "Who told you that?"
Y/n: "Everyone told me. In those exact words."
Noodles: "Don't listen to them. Your fighting skills are amazing. I think you're great. You'll make a great leader."
Y/n: "Yeah right."
Noodles: "For real! Don't get discouraged on your first attempt."
Y/n: "You're right..."
He squeezes me tighter.
Noodles: "That's my girl."
Wheels: "Y/n, Noodles, better come quick!"
He grabbed my hand and pulled me toward the training grounds.
Abuelita: "They sure found you fast!"
Facemaker: "They wanna take us back to headquarters."
Y/n: "Well too bad, we've got a world to save."
Abuelita clicks a button on her can that reveals a secret tunnel that we could take to escape.
Abuelita: "Go through this tunnel. I'll hold them off. Go go go go go!"
Y/n: "I wish you could come with us."
Abuelita: "Hug me, as if it's for the last time."
Y/n: "Hey it won't be. I promise."
Abuelita: "That's my girl. Go, go, go, go, go!"
I slide down the slide and Noodles helps me off.
Y/n: "Guys? Come on!"
Guppy slowly turns and looks down the long tunnel.
Guppy: "It sure is dark in here."
Y/n: "Ojo, can I borrow your flashlight for a minute?"
She hands me the iPad.
Y/n: "We just have to stick.....together."
I say taking a deep breath.
Wild Card: "Yeah, and find a way up to the mother ship, and defeat the aliens who defeated all the Heroics."
Y/n: "Do you have to be a negative Ned all the time?"
He rolls his eyes.
Wheels: "What could we do differently from our parents?"
Y/n: "Everything. Like we lure the aliens out of the cities, so that we don't destroy more buildings."
Rewind: "She's right. Our parents are always having huge brawls in the middle of the most populated cities."
Guppy: "Don't we need superhero costumes?"
She says holding A Capella's hand.
Fast Forward: "All superheroes have costumes. Pads, fake muscles, tons of useless buckles."
A Capella: "Underwear on the outside."
Rewind: "Masks you can barely see out of."
Fast Forward: "That's why they were able to pick out our parents so easily."
Y/n: "Because they were easy to spot. We have to blend in. Be........stealth......."
I notice something in the picture Ojo drew.
Wild Card: "How?"
Y/n: "Just trust me. I have a plan."
I open up the vines at the end of the tunnel.
Wild Card: "Where? What plan?"
Y/n: "I'll show you."
Wild Card: "The plan is we're gonna sneak on a bus?"
I whisper in his ear.
Wild Card: "Oh."
He swipes to the next picture.
Wild Card: "HOLY... doo doo."
He says looking at the other kids. I roll my eyes and so does Guppy.
Wild Card: "I mean, yes, very interesting. Uh-huh. Okay, makes sense. Yep. Okay. Wow, that's really smart."
He takes the iPad from me. I just cross my arms.
Wild Card: "Okay everyone, Y/n and I figured out a way for us to do this. Check it out. Ojo drew us a clue. A supply ship."
She smiles.
A Capella: "So what does that mean?"
Wild Card: "It means there's probably on nearby that we'll sneak on board and pilot up to the mothership."
Wheels: "That's actually a good idea no matter who thought of it."
Wild Card: "Thank you."
Guppy groans and rolls her eyes.
Y/n: "Come on, it's time we show these aliens what's what."
We start running off.
Facemaker: "I don't think she'll ever speak normal."
He says throwing his hands in the air.
Wild Card: "Hurry up Slo-Mo."
We finally find the ship.
Y/n: "Look, there's the supply ship. Just like in Ojo's drawing!"
We see the aliens walking in the grass.
E: "Eww, gross!"
Y/n: "Keep it down. Wait. Wait a second. Let's go."
We all take off running towards the supply ship as fast as we can. We get inside and Wheels starts doing a head count.
Y/n: "Now shut the door and let's get the heck out of here. Wheels can you-"
Wheels: "No! We're not all here!"
Fast Forward: "What! Who's missing?"
We all look at her.
Fast Forward: "Oh."
Of course it's Slo-mo. We all turn to see him running super slow.
Wild Card: "Slo-mo! Cut it out! Run!"
The aliens look at us.
Guppy: "Hurry! They're coming back!"
Facemaker: "Ten to one says he's tentacled."
Wheels: "Dude!"
Rewind: "Come on Slo-mo!"
A Capella starts singing Chariots of Fire.
We all continue to encourage Slo-mo to speed up. He's not getting any faster.
The aliens are getting really close to him too.
Y/n: "Noodles!"
Noodles: "All right, hold me down!"
He reaches his arm out and grabs Slo-mo and pulls him in. He gets inside just in time.
Wheels: "Yes!"
Wheels presses a button and right as the door shuts the alien hits the door. I jump into Noodles.
Y/n: "Wheels, please tell me you figured this out!"
Wheels: "It's actually incredibly intuitive."
He presses another button and a shield goes around the outside of the ship. It starts to shake like crazy and Noodles wraps his arm around me.
Y/n: "Please just choose any button!"
Wheels: "It might be one of these."
He clicks another and the shield goes down and the ship stops shaking. The aliens hit the glass and it starts to crack. We all scream. Guppy runs up and clicks a red button that lifts us off the ground. We start floating into space towards the mother ship.
Noodles: "But now what?"
Y/n: "Don't worry. Any minute now, Ojo's gonna draw a picture of all of us smiling and hugging our parents. Isn't that right Ojo?"
She shakes her head at me.
Facemaker: "Oh that's just great."
It makes me feel bad because I got us into this mess and it might not have a great ending. Plus, I don't think Facemaker likes me that much. Wildcard walks over to me.
Wild Card: "Hey. Why did you choose me to share the idea of looking at Ojo's iPad?"
Y/n: "I don't know. I guess I know how hard it feels when everyone expects so much from you, and you feel like you can't deliver."
Wild Card: "Do you believe I can?"
Y/n: "We all believe you can."
Wild Card: "Tell that to my parents."
Y/n: "I will, right after we rescue them."
Wildcard walks away. Noodles comes over.
Noodles: "You're making that face again."
Y/n: "What face?"
Noodles: "The sad but cute face. What's up?"
Y/n: "I'm trying to fit in either everyone. Wild Card and Facemaker were hard on me. Wild Card let up on me, but I think Facemaker is mad that I don't speak up."
I say normally.
Noodles: "Don't worry about him. He can be uptight sometimes."
We land inside the mother ship around other smaller ships.
Noodles: "I'm gonna go check it out."
Noodles stretches his neck out to make sure the coast was clear. He comes back.
Noodles: "We're all good."
We all walk out and I'm holding Guppy's hand. The other ships are huge too.
Guppy: "Am I just really small, or is this ship really big?"
Rewind: "It's enormous!"
Fast Forward: "Yeah, how are we gonna find our parents?"
Wheels: "I was thinking about that. Miss Granada found us really easily back at grandma's house, and I think I know how. Your bracelet."
I look down at it. He takes it off my wrist.
Y/n: "I haven't been able to contact my dad."
Wheels: "But maybe the transmitter in here that connects the two bracelets works like a tracking device. But I need a pair of pliers and a heat source."
Guppy: "My teeth are strong because my dad's a shark."
She chomps.
Wheels: "Perfect."
Wild Card: "And I've got a heat source. Heat vision!"
He disappears and we all look down.
Facemaker: "Now he's a toaster."
Noodles picks the toaster up and toast pops up.
Wheels: "Close enough."
