Must be perfect. Must be beautiful. Must be perfect. Must have the perfect skin. Must be perfect. Must be good enough. Must be perfect...

But your not.

It's all that ran through your head as you stared in the mirror. A tear slowly trailed down your face, blurring the contours of your hidden beauty as you kept a lifeless gaze at your pale skin as your fingers made small circles around the porcelain sink.

You craved perfection.

You took the blushes and mascara and eyeliner and concealer and lipstick and pounds of face pant you owned and shifted them to the side. You depended on this artificial coloring to make you beautiful.

You didn't see your true beauty.

You turned on the tap water quietly. You and Liam had a big day, you had to look beautiful enough for him. He lay sleeping, quietly in peace as you woke up to get yourself ready. It would normally take you forever.

You desired perfection.

You lined up the concealers and blushes, paired the eyeliners and mascaras, coupled the lip appliances and laid out the tools as you prepared to make yourself presentable. You stared in the mirror as you toyed with your lifeless hair and traced your dulled features.

You ruined yourself.

Hate and words tore through your heart faster then a blade on paper. the words hurt and left a remarkable impression on you. It tore you to pieces as you worked away at your skin, striving to reach an unobtainable goal. The tears stared to flow as you looked down in shame, not daring to connect your eyes with the ones of the reflection.

You needed to be better than you were.

"Sweetheart? What's the matter?" A soothing voice called and a strong pair of arms wrapped around your waist as your body went stiff.

"N-Nothing."

"Babe." He chuckled, not falling victim to your obvious lies. "Is this about your skin?" His face went solemn as he stared down.

"H-How did you know?"

"I see what you buy at the stores, the way you cover yourself or take a third glance in the mirror, I see how you try to hide because you don't see your beauty."

"There's no beauty-"

"Don't you dare say that. You are the most beautiful girl I have ever met, i swear by it, you just can't see it. You know how to start?"

"How?" You humored him.

"We have to take a step in the right direction."

"And that would be-Hey!" You yelled as he pushed every make up item into the trash.

"That would be revealing the true you to the world."

"Please don't make me-"

"What? Make al the others jealous with your radiant beauty?" He smiled wide as he kissed your forehead.

"Shut up Li." You smirked.

"Not until you believe me. Now let's go."

"Go where?"

"To breakfast."

"Like this? I think not." You laughed.

"You don't have a choice dear."

"Fine." You smirked as he took your hand and interlaced it with his own.

"And I'm serious, you're the most beautiful girl ever." He whispered. "I love you."

"I love you to Li." You smiled as you walked out of the door, happier than ever.
