dinner with adrien at the agreste mansión.~~~~~~~~~
Marinette frantically searched around her room looking for her left shoe. She had checked everywhere, leaving Tikki to double-check around her room.
"Tikki, I refuse to go without my shoes. What if Mr. Agreste sees me barefoot and think it's an offense to the fashion industry?" she panicked, grabbing strands of her hair to pull it.
She sat down on her loveseat rocking back and forth, thinking of all the ways she could make one simple mistake and her dream of being a world renowned fashion designer would be over in a minute.
"Marinette, calm down, you're not going to mess up — I found it!" Tikki exclaimed, carrying the black heel to Marinette cautiously.
"Thank you, Tikki," she said, giving her thanks to the kwami. She slipped on the other pair of her black heels, clicking them together for good measure.
She walked over to her mirror, the sounds of heels clicking against the floorboards followed behind her. Marinette had sewn the dress by hand, leaving it to be unique in her own way. She smiled to herself, looking at different angles to see if everything was in place. She grabbed her bag, tossing it across her shoulders as she stared at her reflection once more.
"Marinette, Adrien is here for you!"
Marinette flushed a bright pink, walking quickly to her trapdoor to pull it open. She slid herself past it, shutting it back quickly as she walked down the stairs. Halfway down, she caught sight of the blonde boy she was so desperately in love with.
Her eyes met his, and his met hers, concocting a spark between the two. For a second, Marinette forgot about the world as she stared into his illuminating green eyes. She's always liked that about him; how she could get lost in his eyes and forget about all her responsibilities.
"Hello, Marinette," Adrien smiled, extending a hand for her to take.
"Hello," she smiled awkwardly, standing on the stairs stiffly as she took his hand. She could see her mother, Sabine, send her a wink. Marinette sent a glare towards her mother before she stepped off the stairs onto normal ground.
"I have rules that apply for you," said Tom, putting his hands on his hips. "First, you must have my daughter home by nine, sharp—"
"Tom, dear, let's go cook some dinner," Sabine told her husband, pushing him away to the kitchen while waving goodbye to her daughter.
Marinette waved back, exiting out of the room as Adrien held open the door for her. When they left, she could hear the distant shouts of her father trying to give more rules to Adrien and her mother trying to convince him to go see the 'customers in the bakery'.
"After you, mi'lady," Adrien grinned, holding the car door open for her to step inside. She stepped inside with Adrien following behind her.
Marinette quickly strapped on her seat belt, taking a glance around the car. She noticed that his bodyguard that she would see regularly was in the drivers seat. He kept glancing back at the two silently before pulling out of parking mode.
It was quiet in the car until Adrien broke the silence, "So, this will be the perfect time to show your designs, l'amour. Don't be nervous, my father won't do anything."
"What if he doesn't like them?" she asked him, glancing at him with weary eyes.
Adrien took her hand, causing her to blush, "He will, if he's liked them before he will definitely like them now."
"Thank you," Marinette smiled, tilting her body sideways to rest her head on his shoulder.
He held her hand tightly, his other hand running through her raven-colored hair. He did the same thing over the whole car ride, leaving none of the strands untouched.
The car came to a sudden stop. Marinette had been so focused on Adrien that she hadn't realized that they were already at the gates of the Agreste mansion. The bodyguard stepped out of the car to scan his ID before stepping back in to drive further into the estate.
The car door opened on Adrien's side, letting him exit the car first. Marinette followed closely behind him, lingering closely. As they walked up the steps, the doors opened revealing a tall man who Marinette knew was Gabriel Agreste.
"Hello, Father," Adrien said, losing his smile immediately after laying eyes on the pale blonde. "This is—"
"Yes, Adrien. I know who Ms. Dupain-Cheng is," Gabriel told him, eyeing her intensely before opening the door wide enough to let the two of them inside.
Adrien led Marinette and his father into the dining area where three plates filled with food laid untouched. He took a seat at the far end of left side while his father took a seat on the right side, leaving Marinette to the middle seat.
"How was your afternoon, Miss?" Gabriel asked her, stabbing a piece of steak with his fork. "You must've been busy preparing for this.. unexpected company."
Adrien shot a unreadable look at his father, watching Marinette closely.
"It was alright, thanks for asking," she smiled awkwardly, hiding her expression with a napkin to wipe her face.
Once again, the silence overtook everything. The only things that were heard was the sounds of forks clinking against the plate. Marinette's heel clinked against the floorboard a couple of times out of nervousness.
Adrien put his fork down, wiping his face with the napkin beside him, "Father, Marinette has some designs she would like to show you."
Gabriel looked up at Adrien before moving his grey eyes to the blue ones. Marinette looked at Adrien cautiously before pulling out a book in the bag she had been carrying.
She sighed, opening it up and glancing at the first page. It was her newest design. A light blue dress that was tight until it flowed more out at the bottom. Marinette's hand twitched before standing up from her seat, walking over to Adrien's father cautiously.
As she drew nearer, the blue eyes met the grey ones. Something in Gabriel's eyes twinkled for a second before fading away into the dark abyss.
She handed him the book, filled with every single sketch she had conjured in the past month. He took it, flipping the pages graciously. He looked intrigued as his facial expression changed within every design.
Gabriel closed the book, "As much as I despise your character and what my son sees in you, you certainly have a — interesting mind."
Marinette gulped, not sure how to take what he said. She fiddled with her fingers nervously as he continued to speak,
"I would like to see more of your designs. It seems you had won me over," he said, standing up from his seat.
Marinette and Adrien watched Gabriel leave the room swiftly with Nathalie not far behind him.
Adrien walked over to her, pressing his lips to her forehead. He held her hand tightly, leaving a few more pecks on her forehead.
"Thank you," Marinette whispered to him, laying her head on his shoulder as they stood there, hugging each other tightly.
"Anything for you, l'amour," he smiled, kissing her on the forehead once more.
