"Sakura-chaan!~"
Great. Not again. This idiot has been following me around ever since orientation, and it's really starting to get on my nerves.
"What IS it?" I ask, exasperated. It's difficult to maintain your status as the top of the class when you can't get even two minutes of peace to study.
"Well, I was just wondering- would you want to, maybe- uh, uh- would you want to eat lunch with me today?" Sasuke blushes and doesn't meet my cold gaze.
"You little shit- you came all the way over here to bother me just for THAT??" I raise a fist, very ready to beat the shit out of this guy, when I hear a familiar voice.
"Good morning, class! I hope you're ready for our test today!" Iruka-sensei smiles and gives the class a sweeping look. His eyes land on me, and I lower my hand. Sasuke isn't worth getting in trouble for on a test day, especially one where I'm not confident I'll live up to my usual perfect score. In retrospect, maybe it is worth it. Whatever.
The test is on the past Hokages and their achievements, and it goes much more smoothly than I had anticipated. My mother has been drilling me on this type of stuff since I was a toddler, so honestly, I didn't need to worry about it at all. You never know with surprise quizzes.
"All the past Hokages are super dumb. I'm gonna be wayy better than they ever could dream of, believe it!" I give Naruto, the class clown, a withering glance and he responds with a grin and thumbs up. He's almost as annoying as Sasuke.
Soon, it's lunchtime, and I find myself AGAIN being approached by the edgy duck-hair simp. EDHS, for short. "U-uh, Sakura-chan- you never really answered my question about lunch- w-would you want to eat with me?"
"Sorry, but I have better things to spend my time on, and better people to waste my time with. Go away." I sigh and make my way over to Ino. Not gonna lie, she looks pretty pissed about that exchange.
"How come he always goes after YOU," she says with a frown. I laugh.
"I will never understand why that makes you jealous. EDHS is a total idiot. Why do you like him, anyways??"
"He's cute! And he's, I dunno, soft! You ask me this every day, Sakura, the answer isn't gonna change." Ino sticks out her tongue playfully. I roll my eyes.
"Yeah, every day I pray it will change," I reply, and open up my bento box. Pork dumplings and rice, AGAIN. When will my dad listen and switch it up for once??
Ino notices my plight and holds out her sandwich. It's her usual lettuce, turkey, and mayonnaise. "Wanna trade?" I sigh.
"No thanks, we just did yesterday. I'll just deal with this. Thanks for offering anyways though." She smiles.
"No prob! That's what friends are for."
"Yeah, that and telling them when they're in love with a total dumbass."
She gives me a look. I laugh, and eventually she joins in. She's not stupid; she knows he is. I will never get why she likes him anyways, but if he makes her happy, I guess that's good enough.
