Chapter 1

~*~*~*~*~* Akira's POV~*~*~*~*~*

"I am in love with you, how hard is it to understand?" I said throwing my hands up. "I just dont want you to end up like he did three years ago."

He just started at me, speechless. That's when I walked past him and he grabbed my hand, bringing me close to him. So close I was scared of what would happen next.

Two months earlier: Shadow Assassins Headquarters

"Alpha team B, please report to room 145-9."

My team was called over the loud speakers, to report for our eighth mission this month. Shadow never lets its best assassins rest. My team of two loved the travel and the "vacations", but mostly the kills we make. I am not one bit proud of it, but we are trained to be merciless, ruthless and damn sneaky about it.

Shadow only allowed a handful of female assassins to join, I was one of the lucky ones after I had passed the entrance exam at the age of twelve. By the time I was fourteen, I could disarm and kill an assassin in five minutes. Something a mere human can't do. That's why I am not human, I am a Voldarak or as the mortals call Vampire (which is something similar my kind, except for the blood drinking its a choice). It's kind of funny to see some of the assassins at Shadow, back away when I smile.

When we got to room 145-9, we sat at a huge dark wood table. Our boss and head assassin, Jared Western, entered. He was in his late twenties, tall, handsome and blond. It's really ridiculous to see the girls here drool over him.

"Okay, your assignment is in Imperia. Person: Dante Van Dorr." He pointed to the huge screen behind him.

"When you mean person are you referring to as a target?" Joey our team hacker, asked.

"No you are assigned to be his bodyguards." Jared said flatly.

"We are assassins not babysitters." Trevor slammed his hand against the cool wood of the table.

But Jared just ignored him and went on, "Trevor, Joey, you two will be in charge of the security and outline of the palace. As for you Akira you are in charge of the prince himself."

"WHAT?!!" I almost fell out of my chair. No way, am I taking care of some spoiled royal brat. From the look at his profile shown on the screen, he was not the best person to hang around. "Jared, can't you assign Trevor to do it?" I gave my team mate a pleading look, but he just shook his head, mouthing the word: no. so I was stuck with it...wonderful.

"You will be arriving at the Imperia Palace, in twenty-two hundred hours. You must be dressed in the formal wear that was picked out for you and weapons. I expect this assignment to run smoothly." Jared said staring us down. "Dismissed."

As we filed out of the room, we ended up in different quarters soon after. Right inside were our weapons, equipment and formal wear. This nicely hid our weapons, from the attacker and people around us. Most of my clothes were dresses from different designers I can careless about. I lazily looked through all the clothes to only find mostly dress and one or two pairs of pants.

Honestly, I hate the fact of babysitting a spoiled brat but what choice do I have? I decided to grab the first dress that caught my eye: a strapless midnight blue dress that traveled to the floor. The heels weren't as bad as I thought, I mean I can run in them but it would be deadly to the victim, who is a target to my round house kicks.

After seeing how I look in the mirror, someone was knocking on the door. I crossed the room and answered the door to see Joey. He looked pretty good in a tailor-made suit, tie and all. He was carrying a red velvet box, which only meant one thing, new equipment.

"By the look of that face, you know what is in the box." He laughed.

Technically, I didn't know what was in the box but I knew it was one of his new creations. Joey opened the velvet box revealing a collar diamond chocker necklace, with matching diamond drop earrings.

"These are not your ordinary expensive jewelry, the earrings are normal, but the necklace is a very dangerous piece. Every diamond is an explosive." He really emphasized on the explosive part.

"Joey, I have known you since I was little, but as a friend and team mate," I put a hand on his shoulder. "You sometimes don't think, in other words...are you mad!?" I hit his arm. "No way am I getting my self killed, but the earrings I will take."
