--> Short Scenario: You die in Xiao's arms after a difficult battle. <--

—————-キリトリセン—————-

The striking of thunder and lightning booms. The pouring of the storm loud and threatening as it stretches across Liyue's vast lands. Not a single sign of life insight as they all had taken shelter. You, however, were caught up in the rain unable to escape the Ruin Guard that took rest in the Guili Plains.

---

You fly backward amidst barely avoiding its oncoming missiles, feeling your knees buckle as you land in an awkwardly painful position. Your form battered and bruised, blood seeping from your side as you glare at the creature responsible for your beaten state. The energy you had before has all but left you completely, and this wasn't going to end well, as you didn't have any left in you to keep fighting. Before, you had told yourself how it wouldn't do any harm to go out on one more expedition before retiring for the night. But now you wish nothing more than to have taken it all back, take it all back so that you could instead be in his arms under the sheltering roof of the inn you've come to make your second home. Yet here you still were, at wit's end as the rising anxiety and fear swell inside of you, that you may not make it home at all.

Another bolt of lightning strikes down, the loud booming marking the final push as you scream with all of your might, sword clutched in hand. And in the blink of an eye, the Ruin Guard was down. It takes you a moment to process everything. The Ruin Guard was now no more, yet a being seems to still stand, though you can't make it out through the blurring of your vision.

"(Y/N)!" The all too familiar voice yells out, its figure becoming clearer the nearer he came in desperation. And you can't help but smile as the warmth in your heart seems to grow, no longer worried now that he was here. You call out his name. "Xiao..."

---

He knew he should've done something, anything, to make you stay. Yet he stayed quiet. Why? Right now you two could've been taking shelter under the roof of Wangshu Inn, holding each other in bliss with no worries whatsoever. So why couldn't have things been different? Why did you have to go on yet another expedition? Why are you here on the verge of- No, he'd never say such a thing. There was still hope, you could be helped.

"Xiao..."

Hearing his name alone from you made the pieces of his heart crack, as he gently kneels over to cradle you. His face distorts into one of agony and distress, his thoughts racing a mile a minute. You shouldn't say his name so lovingly in a situation like this. Any other time, he practically thrived to hear his name fall from your lips in such a manner, but at this moment right now he couldn't stand to hear it. Not while he failed at keeping his promise of protecting you, and you were here in desperate need of medical attention.

He gently places a strand of hair behind your ear, looking into your eyes with fear. "Don't worry (Y/N), we'll get you help, just keep your eyes open for me alright?" The shaking of his voice he desperately tried to hide was more noticeable than he intended it to be.

"(Y/N)...?" His body freezes. And in that moment, he truly regretted ever had letting you go.
