The call

                             Chapter 1

                         The Call
 
  Lillian sat at her desk tablet in hand when she heard her desk phone go off. Looking at it she sees the name Cat.Co, annoyed she picks it up.

"Hello this is Dr. Lillian Luthor, may I ask who I am speaking with?"

"Yes hello this is Kara Danvers Miss. Grant's assistant. She would like to do a personal interview with you some time tomorrow and would like to know what time you are available?"

She stops to think for a second noting the sound of fear and or hesitation in the young woman's voice.

"I could but I will have to check my schedule to see if I am, if not I will let her know when I can."

She hears a sigh of relief and a thank you.

She smiles "Oh no need to thank me miss Danvers I will call back to let you know."

"Of course, thank you again, we called before but your assistant never got back with us so we called you personally, but I will await your call sorry if I desterbed you dr. Luthor''

Shaking her head Katie never told her Miss Danvers called, "Your fine and your welcome goodbye Miss Danvers."

She hangs up wondering what Cat could possibly want.

Just then her daughter walks in, "Hello Lena, how are you? Any questions on your project? Did you know Miss Danvers called for an interview for Catco. Magazine?

" No, I didn't mother. I came to see if you wanted to go to lunch with me, Lex, Andrea and Mercy. Lex was talking about wedding plans and trying to convince me and Andi to the double wedding again. Can you believe him?" Lena laughed as she walked up to my desk.

" I wouldn't doubt it, he thought it was time for you and her to marry, and he loves you. He thought it was a sweet idea. If he brings it up just say no it's you and Mercy's day we will have our own.'' I look at her, and smile, " And I know you have a plan to propose to her next week. I know she will say yes, you two have been together since you're 15 years old."

I grab my purse and walk out the office with her to go to the diner for lunch, making a note in my book to talk to my assistant Katie about Miss Grant's call and to call my old friend.
