Dear Jesper,
First of all, I hope you can read this because Kerch is a fictional language for me, so I wouldn't know how to learn it.
But anyway, let's get to my letter
My name is Noah, and I don't exist. For you, at least. Or, I might exist, I'm not really sure. I could have a parallel counterpart in your world, I'm not sure, Quantum Theory confuses me. If it makes it clearer, you don't exist for me either, as a real person. You are in fact, a main character in a book series called Six of Crows.
I'm sure you'll be pleased to know that you are most people's favourite character; including mine, which is why I'm writing this letter, Jesper.
Now, you don't know me, (unless I'm a book character in your world,) but I can guarantee that I probably know you better than Kaz. That's if you've met him yet, of course. Saints, this is confusing. But if you have met Dirtyhands, then tell him he's a dickhead who really should tell someone about his trauma before it drowns him in the waters of the Staves' Canals.
Oh and that he should fuck Inej.
I might write a separate letter to him.
Anyway, I've seen your innermost thoughts and feelings since you were around seventeen; mostly during the ice court. Again, I'm not sure when I'll manage to get this to you and so ignore me if that hasn't happened yet. Don't panic either.
I'm trying to reach you, Jesper, I swear I am. It's just so hard. I attempt it every night, and I hope I can get there, to you, soon.
I want you to hug me tight, and ask me how my day was, before taking me to the cards tables to watch you gamble all your money away. I want you to teach me to use your revolvers. Obviously I'll never be as good as you, not with your little gift helping you out. I'd like to sit and drink with you, and Inej. And Kaz, Wylan, Nina and maybe even Matthias (If I can be bothered with his constant grumbling.)
Hopefully, writing this letter will help put my thoughts in order and aid me in finding you quicker.
I want you to know, Jesper, that I (and around a million other people) love you very much.
Please don't die before I get there, that would be incredibly irritating. I know that Ketterdam isn't the exactly the safest area, especially the Barrel, but please try not to do anything ridiculously stupid.
Lastly, I give myself permission to leave this plane of space and time, to find Jesper Fahey, wherever he may be.
No mourners, no funerals, Jesper.
Love Noah.
She didn't send the letter. Obviously. She couldn't exactly address it to 'The Crow Club, Ketterdam, Kerch, Non-existent Earth.' and expect the local Royal Mail to deliver it through some sort of Physics-defying-Law-defying-everything-defying portal, now could she? No.
And anyway, she wrote it in a leather-bound notebook, which was damn expensive, and therefore not in 'letter format'. Noah had hoped that writing it would help her shift. She'd seen it on TikTok, something about 'allowing your consciousness to follow where you sent the letter' or some garbage, but there was no harm in trying.
When it inevitably didn't work, Noah locked it in a desk drawer and forgot about it, feeling absolutely barmy for writing it in the first place.
So when she opened it again, a week later, she was not expecting to find a response penned neatly on the next page.
--------
Okay, first of all, Hi everyone! My name is Nyah, and yes, I genuinely did write that letter. Obviously I didn't get a response, like Noah did, which is unfortunate. I wrote it because I was having a bad day, and wanted my comfort character around. Originally, I had written it as 'from Nyah', but after thinking of a storyline to go with this, I realised I had the freedom to change my name to Noah, which is something I've never had the courage to do in real life. So I figured, if I can't get a response or have my desired name, that I'd allow this Noah to instead.
Anyway, this probably won't be very long because I can't be asked to write a 100 chapter story, I'm sorry.
Questions for you all: Should I write Jespers POV at any point? Should I use first person? How would you guys like it?
Anyway, have a nice day, everyone,
Love Nyah.
