I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding. "I-I... Portia... we got it t-together..." I started to stutter out of confusion. Why did he care? Why does it matter? Asra chuckled and put my phone in my pocket, placing his hands on the table on either side of me after. He leaned closer in and started to smirked.
"Thinking about finding your love and moving out?"
I stared him down and his smile got slightly bigger. "Maybe I will. I've been living here and being a bother to you for as long as I can remember, possibly even longer than that." He sighed and rested his head on my shoulder, pulling me into a hug.
"I'll never get tired of your company, Y/n. You're the most amazing person I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. Even if you truly do decide to leave, I will support your decisions no matter what." I smiled and hugged him back, causing him to shift into a more comfortable position.
After what seemed like forever, but was most likely only a few minutes long, I let go of him and he dropped his arms. "We should clean up and go to bed."
"Ah, yes, of course. I'll clean up down here, you go upstairs." I nodded and smiled. "Don't wait for me either, if you're tired just go ahead and sleep."
"I was already planning on it, wouldn't be the first time would it?" I winked as I slithered out of the backroom.
<In the morning>
I stretched out, but didn't feel Asra next to me. I looked around the room like a crazy person until I saw Faust was also waking up on the loft. I changed into my everyday clothes and scooped Faust into my arms. She made herself comfortable on my shoulders under my scarf. I made my way downstairs to the shop. Faust slithered away and I watched her go into the backroom. I followed her to see Asra sleeping on the bench seat, his head at the room entrance.
I slowly got on my knees and leaned into his ear. "Asra," I whispered, "We need to get going soon." I lifted up my head a little when I saw him turn his head. I was hovering over his face.
His eyes flickered open, and he smiled when he saw me. "Did I fall asleep down here again? You must've been so lonely."
I shook my head, "Faust kept me company last night." I smiled and fully sat on the floor. He sat up and ruffled his hair, releasing a yawn. "Are you excited to see what the palace looks like on the inside? I've got a general idea from what Portia told me, but I'm still quite curious about it. What about you?" I looked at him expectantly, waiting for him to respond. He held something behind his eyes. Something resembling regret and sadness.
"Yeah, yeah... me too." He glanced at Faust and then fully turned to me. "Let's get going then."
"You're not going to get changed? You're still in your pajamas." He looked down at his clothes and chuckled.
"Wait here for me, I'll be back soon." I moved out of the way and he left. I walked into the main of the shop and waited for Asra to come downstairs. As he did, I saw him carrying my side bag while struggling to put his own on.
"Here... let me." I rushed to him and fixed his satchel across his shoulders. I adjusted the strap and smiled. "There. Perfect." I looked up and he placed my bag across my shoulder.
Without breaking eye contact he said, "perfect."
My smile widened and pushed him slightly. "Let's go. I wanna stop for pumpkin bread for breakfast."
I led us out of the shop and watched him lock up behind us. I remembered the back door and circled around the building. I locked the doors and did the few spells I saw Asra do. I walked back around to see him waiting for me. I nodded my head to the side as a way to say 'let's go'.
We weaved our way to the marketplace and stopped by the bakers stand before leaving to the palace.
