"Twenty four, twenty five, twenty six..."

A solemn voice counted each dandelion in the bundle of weeds filling the lawns of each poorly cared home on the street. A heavy breeze brushed against Jungkook's body as he trudged down the street of an impoverished neighborhood with slow, hesitant strides.

He picked at his cuticles with his fingernails and fiddled with his fingers, keeping his gaze down to avoid meeting the eyes of his neighbors who stared at him warily, knowing to avoid him at all costs. He was paranoid that everyone was watching him and it seemed that his anxiety got the best of him that afternoon.

Although his instincts seemed to be right.

His brunette locks were completely drenched from the rain, dripping onto the concrete beneath his feet which was already covered with muddy puddles.

The muggy air piqued Jungkook's interest and had him sighing in contentment. Jungkook had to admit that he loved it. The smell of rain brought him a sense of nostalgia. He tended to like the gloomy feeling it brought to his bones, making him shiver at the uncomfortable yet euphoric weather. It matched up perfectly with his natural aura. Subtle, yet unpredictable.

Never underestimate the power of water.

After another dreadful day at school, Jungkook was currently walking home which was not too far of a distance from his school. Despite being constantly bullied there, home wasn't any better—if not worse.

Life was a living hell.

His parents couldn't give two shits about him, much less provide him food while they ate dinner or offer him an umbrella on such a stormy day as this one. They never showed him love or protection.

It was the little things such as showing small forms of affection. Even a simple I love you would suffice. A hug, even. But instead, the things he received usually consisted of insults and threats full of venom, puncturing into his heart and lowering his self esteem more than it already did.

Jungkook wasn't anyone special, his peers didn't pay much attention to him beyond the abuse he got by certain students who just loved to torment him.

It didn't take a genius to figure it out. Jungkook was a loner—a nobody with hopeless dreams.

Simply to put, he's an easy target.

As rain poured down and clashed onto the surface, he crossed the street and was met with patches of grass on the other side. He sighed, looking down at his combat boots who took a fall for the team and managed to get terribly filthy from the mud.

Suddenly, the rain decided to go against him and rain even harder.

"Fuck, it's pouring," He said out loud, brushing his drenched bangs from his eyes as he continued walking with a bit more speed.
