No one thought this would happen, hell it wasn't even a thought. Anyone in their right mind would shut it down without a doubt. Yet Muffet ran with all her might through branches, feeling wooden claws scraping her arms. "Almost there dearie...!" She didn't know how she managed to utter those words with the screaming she did an hour ago. In one pair of arms she carried the most precious thing she had remaining of him. Through thick branches her breathing was heavy and felt like pins and needles, she had to keep going and fast. The shouting in the distance gave Muffet a hard slap of reality, they were literally on her ass. Class be forgotten at this moment, Muffet had more things to worry about. Speeding as fast as she could quickly dodging bullets, the forest not showing any remorse.
It felt like hours of running, She couldn't run any more. Her legs stung and her feet caked with both blood and mud. The panic she felt was painful, she swallowed every bile of fear. She frantically looked for a hiding spot. "BAM!!!" As her vision darkened, the close sound of a bullet knocked her back in action as she quickly ducked behind a boulder. She clutched onto you with every arm she had, cooing you into silence in hopes of not being found. "Get out here monster!!!" Please don't find us, please don't find us, P L E A S E.
The harsh steps of the men who were following her, just mere inches away scared her senseless. Muffet kept her breathing even and was ready to use magic. She couldn't do much, her HP already low and with any miscalculated step she could end up dead and you worse. With a downcast look she replayed what had happened previously, her heart aching once more while tears formed rolling down her onyx eyes.
Panic was wouldve described the Wickman house, with Harold pacing back and forth like a mad man, and Muffet trying to calm her lover down whilst trying to do the same for her own nerves. The plush sheets that her honey bought for her on this special occasion were bunched up in her hands long forgotten. "Harold dear, i CANT be panicking over you and the child!!!" Snapping out of it, Harold stopped pacing and took one look at Muffet, bawling out his eyes.
"I-Im sorry, BUT I CAN'T HELP IT!!!" She couldn't help but smiled sheepishly and beckoned Harold to get close and reluctantly he did. "Harold, i know you're scared... I am too but this was a surprise for both of us. Gerson will be here soon to help us, and i need you to be calm. For me and her."
"Gerson?! The old turtle- what i- what if he tells everyone! Canweeventrusthimidontth-" Harold felt Muffets hand slide into his perfectly and gave a reassuring squeeze, she looked at him with pain and sweat on her brow. Even then, she still looked beautiful the first time he saw her. "He won't love, he's our only hope to this. Heavens knows what we can expect and he's been around longer." With a trembling lip Harold clasped her hand like a lifeline, kissed it and held it against his forehead for support. Not long after they heard two forthcoming knocks. Nodding towards the door, Harold stood up to answer as his footsteps faded away. Muffets turned back to her swollen belly, she knew that being with child with a human is impossible.
She remembers hearing stories from before the war, the babies would die at birth or a miscarriage would happen. Her memory recalled cases upon cases of couples experiencing loss and heartbreak. If she recalled correctly from what Dr. Alphys said, a child of a human and monster could not survive due to the instability of magic and flesh. It would not balance itself. The soul would go in a undetermined state, a coma if you will, and shut down. Monsters are made entirely of magic hence the lack of blood and other bodily functions. Her mind went hazy- something about the soul not knowing which side to pick so it would give up. Though, she had hope that this life she was now cultivating was different. Recalling back to her first trimester, god was it nerve-wracking. She didn't even know she was pregnant until she felt their soul, it was like a thrum of guitar that spread like waves through her body. Warmth encased her whole body, the feeling was foreign as her knees gave out.
Working that day. She ordered her spiders to close up the bakery and rushed through the sea of people, heading toward Harold's workplace. By the time she got there, her hair was a mess. The workers looked at her in shock and worry, some in disgust, but she ignored them as she made her way. Pulling Harold aside she told him everything, shedding tears. "I-Im with child Harold... It's a girl- and her soul... It's just like yours." Harold not understanding and not knowing of the background information of these cases threw himself on Muffets hugging the living shit out of her. Not believing her words he stuttered with happiness, "That's amazing- So you're sayi- Wait! IM GONNA NEED A NEW JOB! I just- But maybe if i ask for-".
All the happiness that Harold was showed and Muffets stood there in fear. Where as she felt that the world was crumbling, Harold felt the world was being created. That's when Muffets connected the dots, taking her fingers to silence Harold. "You don't know..." His bright brown eyes scanned her face as he leaned into her hand, showing his signature smile. "Know what, love ?"
Through weeks and long talks, She had argued with Harold more than she ever did. Tears and sweat was all she knew, hormones be damned as well. Never in her life had Muffets seen her very passive husband fight for something with such determination. "Harold! It might not even make it to birth! There's never been a hybrid ever in the history of monsters!!!"
"You don't know that! Please give her a chance at least, a chance of survival! That's all I'm asking from you!... Please..."
The desperation in Harold's eyes was gut wrenching. Taking in a few breath to calm her nerves, she finally gave in. I can't believe I'm doing this.
"Fine, but I'm choosing her name!"
