Exit

Every Halloween, me and my best friends go out for candy, then come home and try out some of our pranks we've brainstormed. This year, one of our pranks was to call random numbers and ask them a series of questions. While we were doing that, my friend Brynn decided it would be a good idea to call my phone number. I quickly turned my head towards Brynn as I heard an older man's voice coming from the phone. "Hello, can I help you?" the man had said. My other friend, Paige had asked him who he was and how long he's had this number. "About 2 years" he told us. Paige and Brynn tried to figure out who this man was, and before any more questions were asked, the call disconnected and the lights went out. The next thing we heard was a scream coming from upstairs. In the middle of the scream, you could tell a hand or tape had covered it as if someone was trying to quiet them. We ran upstairs where the noise was coming from. Halfway up, we realized our friend Delilah had went to the bathroom a few minutes ago, before we heard the scream. When we reached the door, there was a sign that says "stay out" in Delilah's handwriting on the door. But of course, we didn't listen. We ran inside and see red stains all over the window curtain. The window was open with cracks on it. Paige decided to check behind the shower curtain for anything trying to get her and Brynn. She was about to close the curtain until she saw something red in the corner of her eye. She opened the curtain again slowly and her and Brynn were too scared and had their eyes shut before they looked. Brynn opened her eyes first and screamed IMMEDIATELY. She saw the bottom half of Delilah's hand in the drain of the shower. Her scream had made Paige open her eyes too and start to scream along with Paige. The moon suddenly had disappeared almost completely behind some trees, so everything was pitch black. We thought it was dark before, but it became even darker now. If you went outside the window, the moonlight is shining out there a little more so we can see again. Once we get there, we can run to the road which has street lights so we can run and look for help because there's no way we are staying here. Paige goes out the window first. Luckily, we can jump onto the trampoline outside the window and safely land. Paige jumps out the window and you hear a quick "splat" noise as she hits the ground. Just then, the moon came out from behind the trees and Brynn is about to jump too but then looks down..
Brynn sees Paige dead on the ground right on top of Delilah, also dead. The trampoline had a hole in the middle of it, causing both Delilah and Paige to fall through. Brynn then doesn't know what to do so she runs outside the bathroom, down the stairs and tries to make her way through the front door, but it was covered in wood nailed to the door to have Brynn's parents not be able to get in when they come home. When Brynn realizes that she can't get through in time, she reaches for her phone and dials 911. The phone is ringing for about 30 seconds until someone eventually answers. "911 what's your emergency?" the dispatcher says. "Both my friends are dead outside my house, I'm home alone in the dark and I can't get out" Brynn said. The dispatcher tries to help Brynn, but the call disconnected once again. Brynn just decided to hide in the hall closet until either the cops or her parents arrive. After about half an hour of waiting, Paige finally goes over to the kitchen to do something. I watch her grab a knife and put it against her arm. "Nobody is here to save me and this is the only exit out of this world" she said to herself. After cutting her wrists twice, she hears two people yelling her name from the front door. She runs over to the door, right past me, and tries to help open up the door. She knew that her parents had finally came back home. "Brynn let us in!" Her parents yell. "Sorry me and my friends tried to prank you" Brynn said back. Right after she finished her sentence, the moonlight started to shine through another window and Brynn looked in a mirror and finally was able to see her face again. She was covered in bruising and blood and even had a pin going through her forehead. Her parents finally come inside, and give Brynn a big hug. "What happened to your friends, did they go home?" Her mom said to her. Brynn then told her parents about what had happened. Her parents didn't believe her though. They thought it was another one of those pranks they would always do. Shortly after, the lights come back on. Brynn's parents see the blood and bruises all over her face. Both of her parents look at each other and then looked back and Brynn. Then they turned around to talk to each other. Brynn snuck outside to go look for our friends bodies, and I followed her. She went around one corner of her house, then another. And there it is. Right in front of the both of us. Paige and Delilah both in a hole, dead. Brynn heard her mom scream from inside and we ran back around the house to see what had happened. We enter the house and see Brynn's dad holding a gun at his wife's forehead. "Happy Halloween" he says then shoots his wife dead. "I've gotta get out of here" Brynn says to herself. Brynn's parents had always fought, but she never thought it would end up this far. Brynn grabbed the car keys and ran as fast as she could into her moms car. I hoped in with her too. She drove as fast as she could and looked behind her to make sure her dad wasn't following her. When she looked back to keep driving, her dad was in front of the car and she swerved into a ditch. The crash had killed her. Her dad also got ran over, thankfully even though Brynn tried to swerve. Oh right, and me? I'm already dead. I was never actually here with any of my friends the entire time, just with them spiritually. But now all 4 of us are dead. Incase you were wondering, my name is Darcy and I died from a school shooting about 2 years back. Ever since, I watched all my friends live their life. They always meant the world to me and now I can finally see them again. Even if it's in this kind of way. Time for more pranks here in the afterlife ;)
