based on passerine

A raven-winged person flew over the floating islands, flower fields and enchanted, blue-hued forests stretching out for miles. They laughed as they flew about the lupines and sunflower fields before their eyes set on a structure in the distance. They swooped down before a grand house, and a girl with black hair, almost galaxy-like, called to him "hey nick!" she said, hair blowing in the wind as she sat atop the roof. "Hello, Astra" they said, landing briefly before smiling and saying "let's go for a fly, it's always quite nice". She grinned and laughed "Well I was about to ask you that, but I can't fly down here." she remarked. "Ah. I forgot you couldn't. I suppose it's only a matter of time before you have to go back to your world. There is only so long that you may stay" Nick said "besides I don't quite think the forest deity is fond of you".

Nick shifted his balance and sat down next to the girl. He reached down to pet one of her birds and the bird chirped in response. Nick laughed "it seems Jupiter likes me". "Well I guess he does" she said, picking the bird up and putting it on her shoulder "quite fond of everyone i suppose". Nick looked at the girl, almost shining like the stars herself, even though she mostly was one, as she watched the sunset. Little did he know that Helios, the forest deity, was watching them as well. Helios had never forgiven Nick for killing the one he cared about the most. He didn't care what they had done to deserve their fate, not one bit. When Karl died, he was devastated, thinking he would lie there forever and wait for the hills and the vines to grow over them both. He was his dearest friend. He sank back into the forest, thinking of what he was to do.

Nick stood there, talking to the space goddess for years, maybe even a decade, but when he looked up from the roof, wood now slightly decayed with age, she was not there. He looked around for a bit, then sighed. He would have to continue on his own.

Years later, he stumbled upon a kingdom, suspiciously donning the banner of his lost friend. He thought it was worth looking into, so he flew past the main gate, and into the castle window with ease. He was nonetheless surprised to see a painting of his dear friend, with a young, brown haired kid in front of her. Adopted, of course. But why did she choose to rule an earthly kingdom? He thought to himself. "Who are you?" a small voice said and he snapped his head around to face the brown haired kid, holding a black haired kid's shoulder, most likely his sibling, nick thought. "Ah, I'm just here to see an old friend of mine. What are your names?" Nick asked them. "Well my name is Will and this is Rain" Will said. Just then, a tall figure turned the hall corner. It was her. With her hair tied up into a bun and a silver crown atop her head, although she had kept the same godly garment she had always worn. "Nick- I had always hoped you'd come here. I saw this town struggling to defend itself from the forces from Myninth to the west and I just had to help." She said "and I really need your help teaching these children how to fight. One of them will be the next ruler.".

"Why should I help you? You're the one that left me there all that time ago. Even though years are mere specks in contrast to how long we have lived thus far, It still hurts that you left, Astraea." The starry woman stood before the winged person. "I can't teach them well and the forces approaching from the forest aren't going to go slower. Could you help teach them, at least." Nick glared at her "fine. But I don't forgive you YET. Maybe I will soon"

Nick turned his attention to the oldest child "could you show me your arena?" he asked. "Sure! Follow me!" he said, dancing through the halls with his sibling on the way to it. It seemed peaceful, Nick could tell. A shame that it would not be like that for long, he thought, sorrowfully. Weeks turned into months as Nick trained the young kids for war. One day he heard a horn coming from the east. The war had come to them. He gathered the kingdom's forces and Astraea, and charged towards the crowd fast approaching. His blade collided head-on with Helios. "You took everything from me," Helios said, anger evident in his voice. "I don't know you." Nick said, striking a hit to helios, who collapsed in the field, unconscious. The battle raged on for hours upon end, many lives being lost but eventually ending up in the victory of the kingdom. Nick was with Rain, congratulating them for fighting bravely when Helios stirred, and with a staggered breath, grabbed his last knife and threw it at him. In Nick's last minute, they turned themself into a statue, forever in a battle stance, and known by everyone who remembered him as a hero and a brave warrior. Astraea still goes to play the violin with her son at his form, forever. "Is that all from the story, mom?" an orange haired child said. "Well yes of course that's all Felix. Quite a riveting story isn't it?" a red haired woman answered. "That story is true, you know. And that is enough storytelling for tonight, sally" a man in a yellow sweater said. "Sure it is!" Sally laughed "well i suppose that is enough stories for tonight, goodnight felix" and they both walked off. They always did live in the sunshine, although he visits Nick from time to time, his mother having joined him in eternal stone, not wanting to ever leave her best friend.
