Underneath the twilight skies,

stood a man cloaked in a disguise.

Wearing a suave new suit,

and a pair of gleaming new boots,

with his hair slicked back,

he knew he was on the right track.

For when he waltzed into the ball,

he captured the eyes of all.

Though he didn't linger in one place,

for fear someone would recognize his face.

For now they looked at him in awe

but normally his looks made them guffaw.

 So while he stayed until midnight,

and made sure to never hold one too tight,

he made sure he could not be tracked

since he knew it was all an act.

For when people saw him around town,

they all looked at him with a frown,

because even though he was a poor son

not a soul could afford him a glance, not even one.
