Morning comes. Sandra the maid leaves me with clothes
for me to get dress in. A couple of minutes later, someone
else walks in my room.
"Well, well, what do we have here, another toy for me to play
with."
I turn around and scream and start throwing things at him.
My mother runs in. "Vlalore, what are you doing in here? Get
out now before I get your mother." She pushes him out and closes
the door behind her.
A few minutes later, I finish dressing and head downstairs to
the dining hall to find everybody there and the perv guy. Sandra the
maid sits me down next to him.
"So what's your name, sweet thing?"
I ignore him. "I don't give my name to those who are nonrespectful
to women."
All of a sudden everyone rises except me, and there stands someone
I don't recognize. She walks toward me. "Show some respect, you
filthy human."
Before she can do anything, my mother stands in front of her.
"This child you will not touch. She is my daughter. You need to show
some respect to your future leader."
Everybody is on their knees, bowing to me, except the other
woman.
"Apzohra!" As my mother screams, she then bows to me. "I am
sorry, Egjyll. I didn't know you had a daughter."
Everybody sits back in their seats; everybody has moved away
from me, even Vlalore scoots away. Breakfast is quiet. After everybody
is done, I am the first to leave.
"Haven, wait."
I don't turn around to see who followed me. I don't care. I run
all the way to the outside of the castle and fall to my knees crying in
the middle of the front yard.
"Stupid, stupid girl crying."
I look up, and there he stands, Mike.
"Mmmm, I can smell your blood now. It smells just your
mother, and her blood can break this curse. All you have to do is
come with me, and all will be well." He holds his hand out.
"Haven, don't go with him, come with me, and I will set you
free. I know you're scared of losing the people you love and you're
afraid people might not love you for you." I look at the person behind
me, and it is him, Vlalore. "Please take my hand, let's figure this out
together."
I reach for his hand; sparks flow through my body like fireworks
going off. He pulls me up, and then his hand burns and he lets go.
"You stupid boy, only true love can break this curse. You touch
her, and you could die or live. She can't control her true powers." I
look back at Vlalore and see my mother coming; I turn to see Mike
gone. She runs toward me and hugs me. "Haven, are you okay?"
I see Vlalore's mother hug him and say, "You need to stay away
from her. She can kill you."
I hug my mom tighter, and then she says, "Haven, let's go to
the library, you need to know about the curse and everything." She
grabs my hand, leading me to big, brown doors, and she opens them
to a huge library with lots of books. "Haven, this is where all your
answers will be answered." She looks back at me and smiles. "Your
father would be proud of you, my baby."
I feel tears coming down. "Mom."
She starts crying. "So let's get started."
