Everywhere was bright and green, a verdant summer sight. In the trees little animals scurried, leaves falling in their wake. The ground beneath was dry, yet solid. In the middle of it all was a girl with a faraway look in her eyes. Those eyes matched the green and yellow tones of the leaves in sunlight, her hair was soft and brown, like the untouched earth. In her head sung a smooth melody, almost leaking out her ears into the world around, wrapping itself around the tree trunks, seeping into the forest floor, and dispersing in the wind.

Her body was heavy, arms and legs like lead weights. She felt herself sink to the ground, and there was suddenly grass. So soft, so fresh, like a sunny meadow. She laid in it, letting the sun gently bake her skin and the field swallow her like a giant pillow. And yet, feeling engulfed in warmth and comfort, she yearned for more. For the touch of another, to bring them into the embrace she felt. Her soul silently yearning for someone to share with. But in the field there was none, none except her.
