Chapter 3

"Thanks for the ride!", Danielle said to Daniel and smacked the hood of the car as she walked to her front door. As she passed the window Daniel smiled and said, "Alison I'll text you the details for our next gig. Love ya Danigirl, sleep well okay? You did awesome tonight!"

"Love you too Daniboy, drive safe okay?", she said as she walked to the front of her house and grabbed her keys from her purse. Her brother finally driving off after making sure she made it to her doorstep. Hearing the car drive off she smiled and shook her head always looking out for me huh daniboy?.

As she looked up to open her door she saw a folded piece of paper sticking to her door with a strip of tape. She snatched it down feeling her heart gradually pick up its pace. She quickly opened the door and slammed it opening the paper in her foyer. The red letters seemed to bleed through the crisp white paper.

EVICTION NOTICE

Her eyes began to water and her hands shook as the paper slipped through her fingers. Although she was doing what she loved, it didn't always pay the bills. She still had school to think about. Her unsteady fingers dialed her landlord's number. Even though it was late she couldn't help herself.

Riiinnnng..riiinnngg..riiiin- "Hello?", a groggy voice said on the other line. Her fury spiked in spite of herself. How can he sleep peacefully knowing he just rendered someone homeless?

"Seriously Vinnie?! I said I was gonna get you the money I'm not even late on paying the rent yet! You can't just take my home from me!", she shouted into the phone, her words coming out fast and hard. A deep sigh came from the other side of the phone. "Danielle let's be real for a second. You rarely pay on time. The times you don't I get offers from others about your place. You have to understand that you just can't afford to live here. I'm sorry, but I need to make a living too. If I let you slide then it's not fair to my other tenants. I'm sorry, I really am. Goodnight, have your things out by the end of the week.".

With that, he hung up ending the call and filling the dark flat with three measly beeps. Danielle threw her phone and screamed in outrage then began crying into her hands. This can't be happening.

Dekland POV

I had just gotten home from my meeting and was working on some extra work when my phone buzzed with one-two-actually three messages. I sighed and picked it up knowing who it was. I opened the messages to see Eden had sent me some pictures.

Miss me?

I looked at the picture below her failed attempted to be flirty and saw her wearing something don't remember telling her she could keep. The leash

She was wearing little to nothing and had the leash attached to some collar she bought.

Come to NL tomorrow night. Bring that with you.

Danielle POV

I slept all day and missed all my classes. I couldn't give less of a fuck. Right as I was waking up from my third or fourth nap today my phone started going off. Shit

I cleared my throat and answered. "Hey danib-," I began but was met with yelling.

"Why aren't you on campus? I've been calling and texting you? What's going on?", daniel said angrily. I could almost see him flicking his earlobe.. he does that when he gets worried.

Out of nowhere, I was hit with a burst of anger. "Look I'm an adult okay? We arent 16 anymore you don't HAVE to keep tabs on me. I'll do what I want when II want to okay? I don't have to run shit by you first!". I spit and hung up powering my phone off and throwing it shutting my eyes.

I snuck out of the room holding my bunny in one hand and at the top of the staircase, there was daniel. Looking and listening through the rails. He beckoned me over and held my hand. I looked over and saw him flicking his earlobe, the one almost entirely lacked pigmentation, and I squeezed his hand until he stopped. Our parents were screaming downstairs about us.

"They look like a freakshow! Their faces look fucking horrendous. I thought it would go away but it's only getting worse!", we hear our father shout. "Lower your voice Matthew!", our mother spit. I looked at my brother with hopeful eyes. See, mom still likes us! But then I heard her say, "I know what they look like but what can we do?", she said letting out an exasperated sigh. Being only 8, we were scared and confused. I looked to my brother and whispered, the tears welling up in my eyes, "what's gonna happen to us?", I whispered as my voice dipped.

He took a minute to think and raised his head with a determined look in his eyes. "Nothing. You wanna know why?", he asked, taking my rabbit, putting it in his lap, and grabbing my other hand. I nodded. "Because you have me to protect you forever. And Seymore too I guess.", he said, gesturing to the rabbit. "Cos that's what big brothers do.", he said smirking as I scrunched my face up. "You aren't older than me.. WE'RE TWINS.", I whispered. "Oh yea?", he said giving me a devilish grin. He reached over and started tickling me and when I cried mercy he stopped and looked serious. "I mean it though. I'll never leave you alone. We don't need mom and dad okay? As long as we have each other. Promise?", he said holding out his pinky. "Promise.", I said, giving him a matching snaggle-toothed grin.

I sat up so fast I almost threw myself out of bed. My face was wet with tears and i was slick with sweat as I began to hyperventilate. He was always there for me. He means the best and he tries to help me and I push him away all the time. I cant deal with this right now. I need to go somewhere...ANYwhere

I looked at my alarm clock frantically.

11:45pm

I got up showered and opened my closet.

Hey all!! I know it's been a minute since I posted but with the end of school adjusting to the start of summer has been somewhat hectic. My editor is in Nigeria and her internet isn't the best so posting WILL BE SLOW but don't fret we have not forgotten about you guys

I'm technically not allowed to post or write these things 🤫 so her posting the chapters is the only way we can publish.
