Chapter 9

You, Harry and Hermione were walking on the bridge as the two discussed.

"Harry you told me you'd figured the egg out weeks ago. The task is two days from now."

"Really? I had no idea. I suppose Viktor's already figured it out."

"I wouldn't know, we didn't actually talk about the tournament. Actually we didn't really talk at all, Viktor's more of a physical being. I just mean he's not particularly...Mostly he watches me study. It's a bit annoying actually. You are trying to figure this egg out aren't you?"

"What's that supposed to mean?"

I mean these tasks are supposed to test you, in the most brutal way they're almost cruel. And um, I'm scared for you. You got by the dragon mostly on nerve, I'm not sure it's going to be enough this time."

"Don't worry I can help him. I did promise after all." You laughed

Harry looked at you with a huge smile, Hermione could tell something happened between you two but she couldn't figure out what. So she walked away. You and Harry notice Cedric coming your way

"Hey Potter. Hi y/n..."

You sent a smile his way

"Cedric."

"Uh How are you?" He asked

"Spectacular."

He waited for you to respond

"Oh I'm fine."

"Look I realise I never really thanked you properly for tipping me off about those dragons."

"Forget about it. I'm sure you would have done the same for me."

"Exactly. You know the prefects bathroom on the fifth floor?"

Harry nods.

"It's not a bad place for a bath. Just take your egg and mull things over in the hot water." Smiled Cedric

He was walking away until he looked back

"Bye y/n."

You waved goodbye at him. Harry then looked at you

"Are you going to the perfects bathroom?"

"Of course."

*time skip*

You were reading another book of spells when you see Harry come in with the egg, and towel.

"How's it go?"

"I think the next task is of merpeople." Said Harry

He sat down next to you. You have to admit you were a bit sleepy, you yawned.

"A-are you sleepy ?"

" a bit but continue."

Harry continued to talk and you leaned on him. His voice was so nice to hear.

*time skip*

You were in the library with Ron and Hermione with Harry trying to figure out that message

"Harry, tell me again."

"Come seek us where our voices sound."

"The black lake, that's obvious."

"An hour long you'll have to look."

"Again obvious, though I must admit potentially problematic."

"Potentially problematic? When was the last time you held your breath under the water for an hour Hermione?"

"Look Harry, we can do this. The four of us can figure it out." You smiled

Professor Moody appears in the doorway. You then remembered a book you were reading on plants.

"Hate to break up this scholar session but Professor McGonagall would like to see you in her office. Not you Potter, just Grindelwald and Granger.

" But sir, the second task is only hours away and..."

"We're helping Harry-"

"Go on!"

You set the book down, and walked off with Hermione

"Blimey-"

"Better get going Weasly".

"Right" he said

*time skip*

George and Fred are shouting, busy taking bets. Harry is walking along with Neville, he has some green plantlife in his hand.

"You're sure about this Neville."

"Absolutely."

"For an hour."

"Most likely."

"Most likely?"

"Well there is some debate among herbologists as to the effects of freshwater versus saltwater."

"You're telling me this now? You must be joking."

" I just wanted to help."

"Well that makes you sight better than Ron and Hermione except y/n. Um...Where are they anyway?"

Harry was looking around and he couldn't find you

"You seem a little tense Harry."

" Do I?"

They went on the boats to go onto the platform

" Welcome to the second task. Last night something was stolen from each of our champions. A treasure of sorts. These four treasures, one for each champion, now lie on the bottom of the black lake. In order to win each champion need only find their treasure and return to the surface. Simple enough. Except for this, they will have one hour to do so and one hour only. After that they'll be on their own."

"Put that in your mouth." Growled Professor Moody

Harry puts the gilliweed in his mouth and starts choking.

"You may begin at the start of the cannon."

The cannon fires and the champions enter the water, three of them dive in while Harry is pushed. Underwater the effects of gilliweed take hold, Harry's hands and feet become webbed. He then breathed as if he wasn't underwater.

*meanwhile on the platform*

Seamus and Dean were seen peering over trying to find what was wrong with him

"What's the matter with him?"

"I don't know I can't see him." Said Dean

Neville then began to freak out

"Oh my god I've killed Harry Potter!"

Harry flies into the air like a dolphin and the crowd cheers for him. Harry was swimming around trying to find out where the task was going to be. He passed through some very tall seaweeds and continued to swim through it. Even though he might've seen grindylows, that's when he heard a female scream immediately he knew it was fleur, he continued swimming on.

*meanwhile *

From above you can see Dumbledore and everyone else. He announced

"The Beauxbatons champion Miss Delacour has unfortunately been forced to retire. She will take no further part in this task."

*back to harry*

Harry is still searching around. He hears muffled screams, and enters a place that had ruins. He sees merpeople, He finds Ron, Hermione, You and a blonde girl from Beauxbatons tied in place by their ankles. Cedric is there, he takes You with him. Harry felt a bit sadden due to the fact he wasn't the one that saved you, but Cedric. Harry sets about freeing Ron and Hermione but vicious merpeople appear, and held their tridents against his throat

"But she's my friend too!"

"Only one." Said a Merperson

What looks like a shark approaches at high speed. Harry see that it has legs and it's Viktor. He takes Hermione and heads for the surface. Harry then frees Ron, he then looks back at the blonde girl
