Anna barged into her cabin with a deep sigh at the pouring rain before shutting the door behind her. She walked towards the living room and set down her hatchets and axe on the large coffee table.
While humming her soft lullaby, she stepped over to the wood stack left of the fire place, grabbing a few logs to place into it and started the fire. She smiled lightly at the warmth of the flames as she sat down in her rocking chair, continuing her tune.
A knock at her door made her perk up, glaring at it before grabbing her axe quickly before getting out of her chair. Anna marched towards the door, kicking it open with her axe ready to swing at the intruder on her property but she stopped herself.
There were four children standing on the porch, drenched in water and shaking, staring up at her in fear.
"Excuse me." The boy with a grey hood over his head, regular jean, and black Converses, spoke up. "I'm Frank. My friends and I are lost and hungry. Can you help us?"
Anna lowered her axe, "how did you manage to get lost out here?"
"I don't know. We were playing at a play ground and then this thing came out of nowhere, taking all of us." The girl next to him answered, wearing a thin black jacket, blue jeans, and black sneakers. "It sounds crazy but it's true. We woke up here and now we're lost."
"This thing. What did it look like?"
The other boy with a black and neon blue trim jacket, black pants, and neon blue Converses, spoke up, "it was black and red. It look like spider legs for a moment then it started getting bigger."
Anna sighed in annoyance, but stepped aside, "come in. Let's get you four in dry clothes."
They smiled with glee as they spoke at the same time, "thank you miss!" They walked inside.
Anna rolled her eyes, muttering under her breath, "no problem."
She closed the door, noticing the children were looking around her living room. One girl was hiding behind one of the boys. She wore a slightly big purple hoodie, with a skirt to match, black leggings, and purple sneakers.
"This place is kind of scary..." she whispered, clinging to the boys arm.
"It's not that bad, Susie." He pointed to the animal heads mounted on the wall, "see, they're not alive or anything."
"I know Joey. But i-" lightning struck as she screamed, hiding more behind Joey.
He sighed slightly, turning to comfort her, "I know. You're afraid of thundering and lightning."
"Hey Susie!"
She turned, seeing nothing but a wolf head mount, showing it's teeth. Susie screamed and ran over to Ann, hiding behind her.
Frank put the head mount down while laughing, "Su, it was just a prank."
"Come on! You know she's already scared already with the weather like this!" Joey snapped at him.
"It was just a prank!"
Anna grumbled at the sudden bickering between the two boys, "ENOUGH!"
They went quiet, staring up at the tall lady. "Frank, apologize to her right now! You know that wasn't right."
"But, it w-"
The other girl crossed her arms, "that wasn't nice and you know it Frank."
He huffed, rubbing the back of his neck, "Alright Julie." He walked toward Anna, peaking around her leg, "Susie." He saw her curled in a ball, crying, "I'm sorry. That was mean." Frank then sat next to her, "I took it too far. Forgive me?"
She looked up, sniffling, "only if you don't do it again."
"Alright, I won't."
Anna turned around, crouching over them, "you do know you're safe here? All of you are safe here."
Susie looked up at her, "what about that creepy spider thing? Will it come back?"
"No, not at all. I promise."
Frank stood up, holding his hand out to her, "see! Nothing to be afraid of."
She grabbed his hand as he pulled her up to her feet, "I guess so..."
"Now," Anna stood up straight, "I'll have a warm bath for all of you ready and clean clothes."
They all huddled around the fire place as Anna grabbed a clean large blanket and placed it around all four of them.
She walked away down the hall towards a door on the left, opening it to enter to see a bathtub. Anna stepped toward the tub, turning the nozzle to turn on the hot water and the cold water, plugging the hole as the water filled the tub.
Once filled, she turned off the water and walked out of the bathroom towards the living room again, "alright, who's first?"
They looked at each other, pointing at one another.
"I don't want to go first!" Joey snapped at them.
Frank snarled back, "Neither do I! I hate baths."
"Well, you all are getting one regardless who goes first! Now come on." Anna ordered
"Quick!" Julie jumped up with Susie, "everyone scram. She can't catch all of us!"
They all scattered around the living room and dining room. Anna facepalmed with a huff, "children. Why didn't I expect this." She rolled up her sleeves and began to her chase after them.
