Let's go way back to year 1970. It was May 28th when little Patricia Kobayashi was born. She was born late in the evening while crickets were chirping and owls began to hoot. Patricia was born to American parents of Japanese decent; Christopher and Rochelle Kobayashi and she grew up on a fruit farm that has been owned and operated by her family for two generations. Her grandparents on Rochelle's side were born in Japan but raised in Iowa. To make a long story short, they moved down South after getting married. They purchased 100 acres of fertile land, built a home, and began to make a living at being farmers in rural Georgia. Christopher and Rochelle over the decades grew peaches, strawberries, black berries, blueberries, watermelons, apples, zucchinis, sweet potatoes and lettuce. Near their plot of land, the Kobayashi's even owned and operated a General store they named "Kobayashi Family Mart" . Not only did they sale basic things in the small rural mini mart, but to help make extra money, homemade pies were sold either whole or by the slice.

Rural Georgia

Mrs. Kobayashi lounged on the couch on a warm and breezy late spring evening after eating a dinner meal prepared and cooked by her doting and hard working husband. Rochelle's belly bump was quite large and the baby girl spent a lot of time kicking inside of her. The baby would be due any day by now. She was strongly instructed by her prenatal doctor to stay off her feet as much as possible during the last few months of pregnancy. She lounged on the over stuffed paisley couch as she watched a black and white sitcom on TV. The Kobayashi's 9 year old son Carter lounged on the hard wood floor near a cozy and soft purple armchair playing with his toy cars as they laid scattered about.

After Mr. Kobayashi got done washing the dishes, with the help of their son, he kissed his wife and son goodbye before jumping into his cherry red pick up truck and driving back to the General store to continue working till 9:00. Mr. and Mrs. Kobayashi were high school sweethearts and they got married at the age of 18 shortly after graduating from high school. They were both 19 when Carter came along. Carter sensing that his mom was looking at him, returned her tired eyed smile with his big dark brown eyes and a toothy grin.

"Honey pie, do mama a solid an' bring me another nice cold glass of ice water, please?", Rochelle asked.

"Okay", he replied as he jumped up to fetch his mother another tall glass of ice water.

Rochelle heard the unmistakable crack of the plastic ice tray releasing it's frozen solid prisoners. She heard the clink as Carter put the ice cubes into a clear glass before he put the glass underneath the cold tap of the kitchen sink.
