It was a hot and steamy mid June afternoon, June of 1978. Little Patricia Kobayashi stood behind a chain link fence in a park watching older boys, her brother Carter included, play baseball. She was now a fun and feisty 8 year old while her older brother was a tall and lean 17 year old. He was tall and built with lean muscle just like their father Christopher. He possessed the same high cheek bones, toothy smile and sun kissed complexion. He's been playing baseball at the park for what seemed like hours now. His once crisp and white t-shirt was now dingy with dirt stains as well as his light blue denim jeans. A smile spread across his handsome and sweaty face as he squinted into the bright June sun. Carter will be graduating from high school by this time next year. He worked along side mom and dad at Kobayashi Family Mart during the summer months. He even had a girlfriend, a pretty white girl with thick curly black hair and hazel brown eyes named Joselyn Patterson. He started driving last year, nothing brand new, but a used red mustang with white piping.
A few people sat scattered on the sun bleached wooden park bleachers watching the baseball game. Patricia and Chester stood behind the fence, underneath a big tree, since neither one of them wanted to be directly in the sun. Patricia had on a solid light blue cotton sleeveless dress and a pair of solid black flip flops. Her jet black hair was styled in two pigtails high on both sides of her head. Chester wore a pair of blue denim overalls over a black and white stripped t-shirt. His solid white Keds were well worn but in good condition.
"That's what I'm gonna do one day", Patricia said to no one in particular, watching as her brother hit the ball with such force with the wooden bat.
"Do what?", Chester asked.
"Play baseball", Patricia replied as she gestured towards the baseball diamond.
They watched as Carter dropped the bat and ran the bases. The small crowd on the bleachers cheered and shouted encouragement. Two people that were watching were Carter's girlfriend Joselyn and her father, Mr. Ted Patterson, a short and doughy white man with horn rimmed glasses. Unfortunately, she had to sit this game out due to the fact that she sprained her ankle from playing baseball two days ago. However, she wanted to see her boyfriend Carter play. She coaxed her father into bringing her to the park for this very moment.

"Hey, you know what you should do?", Chester piped in. You should go out there, during the next game an' just play.
"Yeah, you should join me", Patricia said with a cheeky smirk.
"Nah, sports ain't for me", Chester said as he casually waved his hand in the air. I'll just stand right here an' watch you play.
