It was nearing middle of the night . A small brown figure poked its head into a bedroom and looked inside . It was a nicely decorated room in light creamy colors and walls with many cheerful photos and artworks . The moonlight seeping inside through the curtained balcony doors over looking a neatly maintained garden . In the middle of the room on the bed lay a figure fast asleep fully under a duvet unaware of the intruder looking in .
As the clock struck the midnight there was some silent whispering outside the door and the brown figure was pushed into the room followed by muffled sounds . The small body broke out on a run took a leap and landed on the bed right on top of the slumbering body nearly pulling off the blanket .
The shocked person on the bed sat up sat up with a yell and gazed around and his eyes finally went to his lap . He looked at the small form that had landed on him which was now trying to reach his shoulder . He blinked rubbed his eyes and looked again . He was rewarded with face full of licks from the puppy on him . He laughed and took the puppy in his hands and cuddled the little bundle of energy .
There was laughter coming from the doorway . There his family was standing . His brother Ajay , sister Sunita, sister in law Shalini , his best friend Ananya and a close family friend and sort of brother Arjun were holding each other to stop themselves from falling down while laughing . His mom and dad Lakshmi and Sreenivas were standing behind them with happy smiles .
All of them said in a joint timely manner
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY VIVEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Vivek looked at them in shock and a bright smile loomed up in his face . Yes it was his birthday today . His family had managed to surprise him . He jumped from the bed while still holding on to the puppy which had settled comfortably in his arms and was now watching the proceedings .

All the youngsters gathered around him and dragged him down to the hall which was decorated beautifully for the celebration . In the middle there was a table with a cake on it waiting for them . They all gathered around the table . Lakshmi lit the candles on the cake and held out the knife for Vivek while Sreenivas took the puppy from him .
His family and friends sung the birthday song for him while he blew the candles and cut the cake . He fed the cake to everyone there and all fed him the cake too . Then he noticed that his siblings and friends where still holding on to some of the cake in their hands . Alarmed he started to back off . Then the chase started all over the house and garden like a group of monkeys they jumped over each and everything and finally they managed to cover Viviek's face with full of cake .
All of them sat on the floor tired but with gleeful and happy faces making jokes on each other while taking selfies . After some time they fell asleep on the couches spread aound the room . The puppy sensing that the storm was over jumped on the floor trotted over to Vivek and then settled on his lap and fell asleep . The elders took a happy look at the youngsters covered them with blankets and went to sleep .
The next day a large framed photo took its place on the wall featuring a group with all the happiness in the world . While fixing that frame little did they know that there was a storm coming up to snatch away their happiness .
I know its a very late start . I have had very little time to write and most of it got deleted due to some technical issues . So Im writing from the start again . Please bear with me . Hopefully the next one will be up soon .
